Terrell Owens Receives His First Contract Offer
Wide receiver Terrell Owens, who last played for the Cincinnati Bengals, has received his first contract offer for this season. Unfortunately for Owens, the offer was made by the Chicago Rush. The Rush are an Arena Football team founded in 2001. Mike Ditka, the Hall of Fame coach and player is one of the co-owners of the Rush.
Owens, a six time Pro-Bowl selection, is one of the most successful wide receivers in NFL history. Last year, during his time with the Bengals, he amassed 72 receptions for 983 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games.
Arena football players receiver free housing, some meals and $400 per game. It is highly unlikely that Owens would stoop as low as to play for an Arena Football league. Most likely, the Rush saw an opportunity for some free marketing and wisely jumped at the chance.
The highest profile players who have played for the Rush include Antonio Chapman, formerly of the Bengals, and Samie Parker, who previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Naw. It’s not the last team you played for. Every team you played for gets mentioned in your credentials, but the “owner” is not specified, and when people try to extrapolate it they go with the team you put in the most years for. So even if he went “for” a team (which he really doesn’t) it would be for the 49ers.
I don’t know much about it one way or the other, but if that’s the case, what is the purpose of all these 1 day contracts that get signed? Isn’t that so their HOF jersey is with their ‘main’ team?
I've seen it for players that wish to retire
as a member of such and such team

It’s purely ceremonial and has nothing to do with the Hall of Fame. It’s a last way the team can honor a player who helped the team in the past, and the last way a player can show respect for a team he enjoyed playing with. But it has nothing to do with the hall of fame. It goes in retirement records and stuff like that, but otherwise it’s completely ceremonial with no real effect.
Maybe the insult will finally crack through his shell that his attitude and behavior are unacceptable.
On second thought, it probably wouldn’t.
Maybe a contract offer from a different Chicago team would get the job done? No, probably not even then.

Suicide Attempt?

TO seems like he’s on the edge of reality. I would think if no one calls preseason, and you also hold a show for them to display your wares and still no team shows up, you have to appreciate your situation. Even last year he barely made the Bengals roster. I thought he did decent but was forced into a larger role than he should have played.
Maybe he can’t face the facts. Maybe he feels his self-worth is only on the football field. This doesn’t sound like it is going to end well.
