A.J. Green Nominated For Pepsi NFL Player of the Week

CINCINNATI, OH - OCTOBER 2: A.J. Green #18 of the Cincinnati Bengals makes the catch against Leondis McKelvin #21 of the Buffalo Bills during their game on October 2, 2011 at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Bengals defeated the Bills 23-20. (Photo by John Grieshop/Getty Images)

As Andy Dalton is being nominated for one award in recognition for engineering an incredible second half comeback against the Buffalo Bills, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green is one of five nominations for this week's Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for week four. Like the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week, the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week is a fan vote. So go vote. Stop reading. And go. Vote. Now. We'll wait while you come back.

Green posted four receptions for 118 yards against the Bills, including acrobatic receptions of 58 and 40 yards (see videos below). Other nominations include San Diego Chargers cornerback Marcus Gilchrist (six tackles, interception), Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones (11 receptions, 127 yards receiving), Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (six tackles, quarterback sack, forced fumble) and Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (374 yards and three touchdowns -- one passing, two rushing). This will be Newton's fourth straight nomination, failing to win any of the previous three -- I guess people just don't like him.

Green is the second Bengals player up for nomination for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award. During Cincinnati's 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos, quarterback Andy Dalton completed 27 passes for 332 yards passing and two touchdowns. Oakland wide receiver Denarius Moore won the award after posting five receptions for 146 yards receiving and a touchdown (along with a 25-yard run) in a 38-35 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Honestly, not many WR's should be taken #4 overall, IMO

Fortunately, Green was one of the rare talents that deserved a pick as high as #4. I thought he could have been the best player in the draft, and most ready to contribute.

I actually voted at least 150 times.

AJ Green was way better than Julio Jones. Did not have as many yards or catches but his were much more spectacular than Jones’s.
