For those of you who happened to be living under a rock this week (fortunately I got out from under the rock just in time to hear the story), ESPN decided to pull Hank Williams Jr.'s "are you ready for some football" song which has led off Monday Night Football since before sliced bread because of some comments he made during a Fox News interview about how he wasn't the greatest fan of Barak Obama.
Supposedly the main reason Hank's song was pulled, was because in his comments, he used an analogy in which he compared Obama & Boehner to Hitler (German Nazi leader of 3rd Reich from 1930's thru 1940's for those of you who don't know who he is) & Netanyahu (Israel's prime minister for those who don't know who he is).
Just to point out...Hank isn't the first person to liken Obama to Hitler. Others have previously made the connection due to both men supporting eugenics policies. Of course, others can point out that Obama didn't start a 2nd world war or kill millions of Jews & thousands of gypsies and Catholics in concentration camps. And some could even say that heck, Obama won the nobel peace prize....although i'm not sure why he won the peace prize.
Personally I could care less what he says about Barak Obama (or GW Bush), and still enjoy the song. I'm not sure if ESPN canned him becuase they are run by liberals or becuase they think it's bad for business, or both. Either way, as a football fan, I really don't care what his views are on Barak Obama. I don't know Hank and likely never will, and it wouldn't make me any more glad or mad when i hear the song, knowing that he's not an Obama supporter.
Heck, i'd guess half of the Bengals' players are big Obama supporters, and half think he sucks. But i'm not going to "only support" the Bengals players who like or dislike Obama. If i'm rooting for the Bengals, i'm rooting for the Christians, athiests, Muslims, conservatives, liberals, ex-criminals, and everybody on the team. So why can't people enjoy a song without getting in a tizzy because the artist does or doesn't like the president? Based on recent polling, less than half of the US likes Obama anyway, so what's the big deal?
