Alright I'm pretty sure everyone is tired of hearing about a Carson Palmer trade. Having said that, I think we all beleive it is going to happen some time before the 2012 season. While I was looking at a recent fanpost about who the Bengals may want to take in the 2012 draft it got me to thinking how the "Suck for Luck" sweepstakes may be an opportunity for the Bengals to land a top 5 pick. I realize the 2012 QB class is suppose to pretty deep and that may actually be a postive thing in this scenereo. Assuming there are several teams in the running for the first overall pick, whovever looses out may be willing to make a trade with the Bengals for Carson Palmer so they can move down in the draft and still pick up one of the other QB's with our pick later in the first round.
Let's say the Bengals end up with the 20th pick (I think it's going to be the 32nd pick:). They could offer Carson Palmer and there (20th) pick to whoever has the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th overall pick (maybe they can get another later round pick as well). Whoever is drafting in the top 5 (excluding Colts and Rams) is going to be in need of a QB and might still be interrested in taking Carson Palmer, especially if they believe they can get one of the other other QB's they are targeting later in the first round. It will give them a veteran QB there new rookie can learn behind without them really giving anything up and it will land us a top 5 pick in return.
Not saying it will happen just thought it might be an interesting way we could maximize the value of a Carson Palmer trade where we could end up landing a top 5 pick in return.
