Bengals cornerback Adam Jones spends a year recovering from a neck injury that he suffered during the seventh week of the 2010 NFL season in Atlanta. Jones finally returned to the 53-man roster during the eighth week of the 2011 regular season and returned a punt 63 yards early in the game, tackled by Seattle's punter Jon Ryan. At the time we just thought Ryan was just as fast as Jones, until we watched Jones limp out of bounds with an apparent hamstring injury. Trainers looked at his leg, iced it and Jones didn't see the field again.
Jones is telling the Bengals beat writers that his hamstring is roughly "60 percent" and would like to improve it around "70-80" percent before he plays again. Complicating matters is that the team released cornerback Morgan Trent on Wednesday, making room for Cedric Benson. Trent showed up on last Friday's injury report with an ankle and missed Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
If Jones can't go against the Tennessee Titans this weekend, that would leave Leon Hall, Nate Clements and Kelly Jennings as your only healthy true cornerbacks.
