Tennessee Titans Take 3-0 Lead After Nine-Play 55-Yard Drive
Cincinnati's game-opening offense ended with heavy pressure against Andy Dalton, forcing the quarterback to throw the football away (or doing his best to do so), bringing Kevin Huber on the field to punt the football into the end zone. On first down, with Chris Johnson lined up wide left, Javon Ringer takes the handoff up the middle where Dan Skuta laid a nice stick into the running back for a limited one-yard gain. On the following play, Chris Johnson takes the second down handoff up the middle, bounces outside after a missed Reggie Nelson tackle and picks up 20 yards down the left sidelines.
With 10:22 remaining in the first quarter, after a Matt Hasselbeck incompletion, the quarterback dumps the football off to fullback Ahmard Hall near the right sidelines, forcing Chris Crocker and Reggie Nelson to miss tackles, picking up nine yards before Nate Clements finished him off. With one yard to go on third down, Hasselbeck faked the handoff and rolled out right, hitting Chris Johnson in the flats for a 21 yard gain and another first down.
Thankfully Tennessee's drive stalled after the Titans were called for a clipping, setting them back 15 yards. A six-yard screen to Marc Mariani, incomplete to Damian Williams and a 13-yard Nate Washington reception set up a Rob Bironas 43-yard field goal to give the Titans a 3-0 lead.
