Cincinnati's Andy Dalton has thrown for 12 touchdowns this year, the most by a rookie in his team's first eight games of the season since the merger in 1970.

Awesome!
But he doesn’t beat out the Bengals’ very own Greg Cook who threw 12 TDs in his first six starts in 1969.

Truly impressive. . .
. . . and only 7 INTS in 30 quarters (DNP 2nd half of Cleveland game of course).
To put that into perspective, The Quitter has 6 INTS in 6 quarters!
Who Dey

So tired of hearing about Newton this, and Newton that.
Dalton will be an elite QB in the next 2 years. And Cam will still be losing games in Carolina.
yea, but he'll be throwing for 700000000 yards!!!
facepalm…..

No need to bash Newton
he’s a good QB – and not on a team with a good Defense to work with.
They can both be excellent!
The year that Elway came out had Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, and Ken O’Brien.

yep
it’s not a zero sum game. Same reason I don’t care to seek out and bash Palmer. I don’t give a fuck, he ain’t a Bengal QB so I just look at him as with any other. Maybe a hair more interest, since he used to be here.
"Suck for Luck"? Forget that
2010 was "Schemin’ for Green and Faultin’ for Dalton."
All interception count, but
those two picks last week really shouldn’t have happened. They also served as punts, so they were harmless other than the failure to move the ball forward.

I better see haters jumping this post saying that Dalton can't be compared to these guys...
2011 Year of the Red Rifle
Carson Palmer 2011 Comeback Player of the Year
Marino was in his own class right away
but he didn’t start until game #6 as a rookie. He threw 20 TDs vs 6 INTs in the 11 games he played.
Dalton is having a great year. No doubt.

When it's all said and done, we might just be talking about Dalton as the best draft pick in Bengals history.
you mean after we win the superbowl, right?

I don't even know what to say
If I was an outsider who hadn’t watched the games, I’d scoff at his yardage and assume his TD’s were situational, giving a ton of credit to the defense for putting him in favorable field position.
I’m not an outsider. I’ve watched every snap of every game. This kid can straight up BALL. He is fearless, and the idea that he’s going to spend the next 4-5 years just getting BETTER gives me chills. He’s the next Drew Brees. Imagine what he can do for the locker room once he becomes a (successful) veteran?

+1
I represent the Bengals of Cincinati with extreme passion and prejudice and make no apologies for it!
His accuracy is nuts
There were probably three to Simpson that should have been caught (one in the back of the endzone wehre he did catch but didn’t get his foot in). I can think of one to Caldwell, one to Scott, on to Pressley that should have been caught.
I can think of two he threw that were his fault, clearly. One to Simpson in teh end zone corner where Dalton threw it a foot too high and Simpson made a hell of an effort and nearly caught it and another to Simpson where he just threw it too far behind.. The rest were throw aways and, I think, a batted ball.

the guy is quietly and consistently good
the wins. low turnovers. clutch plays. red zone success. and now the this td stat.
although i credit the all pro catching skills of fellow rookie aj green for a big chunk of the td number. how many of those catches were phenomenal plays by aj green?

Red Zone Andy
And that is NOT a reference to his hair, golldangit!
He has so much more poise than Palmer does in the red zone. They both get happy feet (that’s probably normal, given the excitement and pressure of the area), but Dalton seems more aware. I also think Simpson and Green are just better receivers than Johnson and the corps for the last year. (Not a slam on TJ, but I’d take 18 and 89 and 81/84 over 85/84/TE’s of past).

Of course, I'm not canonizing him just yet...

glad he's awesome for numerous reasons
one reason i hadn’t consider until this very moment. if dalton had choked in the nfl and been a bust, every talking national media head would have named him: raggedy andy.
" Mike Brown is the owner that Cincy doesn't deserve, not the one it needs..."
This year is just crazy to begin with
cuz there are about 10 players in every statistical category that have end of the year statistics but its only mid season…. we are going to have like 10 WR with almost 2 thousand receiving yards and like 6 QBs with over 5 yards… its just crazy
