It's Steelers Week: If You Can't Get Up For This, You Have No Business Being Here
This is Steelers week. Yes. That team that "won" the Super Bowl in 2005 through Carson Palmer's knee during the Wild Card game that year. Bill Cowher mocked Cincinnati's "Who Dey" signature after the game. T.J. Houshmandzadeh used the terrible towel to clean his shoes.
The rivalry was at one point on the cover of Sports Illustrated (right). The offseason after breaking Keith Rivers' jaw, Hines Ward customary blind-side blocks was banned because of this rivalry. The 9-7 Steelers failed to make the playoffs in 2009 because the Bengals swept them and similarly, the 2006 Bengals win the week 17 game against the Steelers, they're in that year's playoffs on New Year's Eve. The Steelers won in overtime.
According to TiqIQ tickets for this weekend's game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers has risen by 13% in the last week, up to $121. The game is sold out. This city has energy.
Bengals defensive tackle referenced poetry when describing the rivalry between the Bengals and Steelers:
“We hate them and they hate us."
Yep. It's Steelers week. If you can't get up for this, you're either not alive or you have no business being here.

Y'know what's sad about this rivalry?
Ever since the Ratbirds drafted Unibro, our nemesis has forgotten about us. We hate them. They look at us like tiny flies trying to act like dragons. I can’t find any more of a reason to hate them than that snobbish tendency to overlook us. You fell to Baltimore, Pittsburgh. Get ready to fall to we lowly Bengals. It’s time to rekindle that hatred for us.

I even hate the colors black and gold.........
I believe it was in that same article from SI that Hines Ward said something to the effect of……“Rivalry? That is like the bug saying it has a rivalry with the windshield.” I don’t just hope we win, but I would love a 2 score plus W at home. The Steelers aren’t going to give us any respect, so we just need to take it from them.

So I've never told you guys this
But my GF (we live together) is a “big” Steeler fan. “big” meaning I know 4 times as much about them as she does, not her physical size. She’s already mad at me b/c immediately after they lost to the Ravens I told her I’d be sleeping in the guest room all week (can’t chance bad mojo sleeping w/a steeler) b/c it’s Steelers Week. She’s also none too thrilled that I’ve decided to wake up to my ipod absolutely blasting “Welcome to the Jungle” every morning this week (instead of just Sunday morning). Another bit of fun I’m having is immediately taking my work clothes off when i get home and rotating through my Bengals jerseys (1 per night) and other Bengals related clothing.
If anyone has more suggestions that I can use against her this week, please feel free to share and I will impliment accordingly.

hey, she knows the routine
but I will say she was PISSED last year- her parent’s live in Ohio, She grew up there her whole life, but they are from PENN- they have Season Tix to Squeeler games and cordially invited me last year to Bengals/Pitt in Pitt….then i politely declined and informed her of my plan (successful to this point 28 years in) of trying to go my entire life without ever stepping foot in the God foresaken city of Pittsburgh…..she. was. NOT. thrilled.

You can dump her
Just kidding. I’m impressed though – she better be hot, because I can’t even be around Steelers fans when they play the Bengals. I have a female friend (not hot) who is a major bandwagoner. You know, one of those girls who probably just likes their colors and thinks it’s hip to root for them. I told her no way are we watching this game together. Steelers to me represent the residue that crap leaves behind – I can’t stand them, the bs love they get from everyone, and especially can’t stand anything about them during Steelers-Bengals week.
You need to make everything a competition, as a joke
Race through dinner and then stand up and drop the mic/fork and go “FUCK YEAH!!! GO BENGALS!!”
Take a shit and after each sploosh say “Fuck you HINES!” “Fuck you Ben!” “Fuck you Wallace!!”
Have rough sex and call out Andy Dalton’s name.
i like it
but i refuse to call out any man’s name during sex. non-negotiable.
I will take that competition angle and run w/it though…
The Curse of Bo Jackson: Jan 13th,1991- present day
You could call out Katie Brown instead

See.. now you're making my moderator job really tough now.
You have to tone down the wordage. Be as creative with words as you are with ways to mess with Steerers (female steeler fans).
Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?

I simply could not date a Steeler fan. My brother-in-law is a Steeler fan & he’s not allowed anywhere near the rest of the family on Sundays. He gets it, though, & I’m pretty sure the feeling is reciprocated. lol
Carlos Dunlap is requesting a blackout..
If anyone here is going to the game, or knows someone who is, please wear black and tell your friends.
please don't wear black
all the steeler fans will be in #’s wearing black…this will only make it look like more of them are there and create the opposite effect intended.
WEAR ORANGE

by ticalcaldwell on Nov 8, 2011 11:40 AM EST up reply actions
I suggested an orangeout.
But blackout has already gained momentum so we may as well ride with it. And the Bengals will be in the black hits. The point is our team wants us to get into the game so..
by Cry on Nov 8, 2011 2:00 PM EST up reply actions
Does Carlos Dunlap even know what color the other team wears?
Who requests a “blackout” when you’re playing a team that wears BLACK jerseys?
Bengals will be in black....
So the Steelers will be wearing the White Jerseys. At least if everyone wears black it might be harder to see that there are as many Steelers fans as Bengals fans.

Bengals were 15-6 vs. the Steelers from 1980~1990

Hopefully we can bring back some of that magic.

I live in Wv and absolutely despise Shi*tsburgh
Everyone in this god forsaken state loves that ugly black and yellow uniform. I’m praying for a Bengals win so ESPN, my friends, and classmates can all have a HUGE mouthful of crow. Especially ESPN, I was watching First Take and when they compared "S"Cam Newton and Andy Dalton everyone except Skip said oh S.o.S they haven’t beaten anyone. Question. Who has Shi*ttburgh beat? No one!
I hate sh tsburgh more than anything,..

I got one for ya
Why do Steeler fans cry about Refs more than any other fanbase, while simultaneously ignoring the fact that you get the most lopsided calls in your favor and with more frequency than any other team ?
The Curse of Bo Jackson: Jan 13th,1991- present day
I have yet to see any fanbase that doesn’t think they get jobbed by the refs and every other team (or specifically teams they lose to) get all the calls.

I’very only got four years on you being born in 1982, so that’s not really that strong of an excuse.
I’d recommend really knowing some extensive trivia knowledge on your team before going on a rival’s comment thread asking for people to throw Steeler questions at you.

I have excessive knowledge on my team. I do not have knowledge of a team that played when I was few months old. I don’t see how this proves your point.
What type of play did the Bengals call on their 3rd snap of the opening game for the 1983 season? OMG YOU DON’T KNOW?!?! Clearly, you know nothing about the Bengals!!!

Yes, illogical. Knowing a random statistic from 25 years ago doesn’t make me " football ignorant". A logical question would have been asking me what a 3 technique is, what the A gap is, how does the Tampa-2 work, etc.

1983 opening game, as I recall...
was vs. the Los Angeles in Cincy.
It was about 70~75F at Riverfront Stadium
It was a run by Kenny King on 3rd and short.
He got about 2 or 3 yards.
I think they had to punt after that?
Quiz you? ok...
how is Cameron Heyward doing?
I followed him at the OSU, and know that PIT drafted him.
Is he starting, hurt, doing well/bad, etc…?
He's doing more than you would expect for a rookie
Rookies barely ever get PT on our defense, but with the injuries we had a DL early on he got some snaps. His motor is unbelievable and he plays with an attitude that I love. I’m sure you know he came out of college touted as a good run stopper, but it’s his pass rush that’s been quite impressive. I think he could end up being a better player than Ziggy Hood.

did he play for anybody else???
i remember landon being good for us
put sucked for the panthers
seem like it dont it
mayb xcept Dillion since he got a ring , but i really cant remember anybody else
JJ is having a good year in houston
Eric Steinbach, Neil Rackers, Justin Smith, Dez Briscoe, Kevin Walter, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Takeo Spikes
They all did well once they left Cincy.
But there is a big list of guys who didn’t do well also, such as recent big-names like TJ & Chad 8/5.
