"HANDS OF STONE"
Shortly after i recovered from a heart pounding rush of adrenaline , caused by the very entertaining Bengals 23-16 Christmas Eve gift from above. I wanted to quickly take advantage of my opportunity to continue my assault on Cedric Benson.
I mean why wouldn't i ?
Just look at the artillery he provided me with this week,2 more crucial fumbles both coming at times in the game when the only thing your told from 2'cd grade all the way up "we won just don't fumble"
Well i'm not here to bash Benson this time!!!!!!!!! say what?
Next Weeks game against Baltimore,
Truth is,as much hate as i spread about Cedric....he could make it all go away in one single game.
If ever there was a type of game we would want Benson Beasting its arrived.
The Jets playoff loss Benson, remember him??? its been so long ago.
So rather than looking forward to the days without Benson,I'm going to try to bye in for just one week
I mean the announcer's were saying things like "Benson's one of the top 10 running backs in the league"
Hell he seemed to hit some remarkable mark of 1,000 yards,
I find myself having to restrain myself from continuing to make my case against him.
One comment was made that "And Ced on the sideline looks like he's having a casual day's work, doesn't seem to bother him a bit" seemed to sum up my overall feelings for Cedric Benson
So with all that being said,we need Benson now more than ever
I'm going to believe he can get the job done.
But it you were calling the plays, how confident would you be?

We still live and die by Ced.
I think he’ll bounce back…. he has to.
I hope so
The way he played against the Jets.. wow. Would love to see that again.

I'm flabbergasted that many people would choose 30 +
"A team is more than a group of individuals, its a group of individuals that come together to make a team"
not everyone shares your fixation
I didn’t pick that option, fwiw
... I still say it was a touchdown, got tammit.
everyone's entitled to their opinion, weather its right or not

Scott is slightly better, not much
Peerman has looked pretty good in extremely limited action. Still wish they’d given him some carries, say in that game Benson was suspended for. I have a feeling he could completely replace Benson and we wouldn’t lose a thing.
Peerman
It seems that the coaches could have found atleast a few games to get him a couple carries, especially the Ced suspension game.
Peerman is a Football player and there is something about him that I want to see him get some carries. Not sure he’s “the man” but I’d love to see him get a shot. Unfortunately, I don’t think against the Ravens with the Playoffs on the line is the game to give him carries. If we are up 23-0 in the fourth with 10 min or less remaining, I’d actually give him the ball and tell him DON’T Fumble! Can’t do worse then what Ced has shown recently.
Start Benson, & give Peerman 5 - 10 touches.
From watching special teams, you will know that the guy can hit. Give him some carries, besides I like his toughness.
Peerman is definitely a player
I like what I see from him, unfortunately though that’s not much as a RB. I still don’t see why he hasn’t gotten more carries.
bensons the only choice
While I’d love to see peerman, its not realistic to think we will. A running game is needed to win Sunday, so 20 carries for bensons the only option.

You can't stop treating Benson like a #1 back.
If you do, you know he will turn into a cancerous mass on the sideline.
You’ve either got to cut him or give him the majority of the carries. I’d imagine they go the latter route on this one, but he has to be gone come next year. Cancer to the extreme, and even worse than being a cancer he sucks.
And seriously, anybody still standing up for this guy, come on. What evidence can you put forth over the past 2 years that suggests he is any good at all? His ability to convert on third and short? His prowess at receiving out of the backfield? His ability to make the first man miss? His abiltiy to make people miss in space?
Of course, Benson has none of those attributes. I’m really not sure if he does any one thing well. He does a few things okay, and a bunch of things poorly.
Change gone come mane! Trust me! Cause i Bleed tigerblood!--Jerome Simpson
I honestly...
would be 100% OK if the Bengals released Cedric Benson on Monday.
He’s a power RB who doesn’t break tackles.
He’s a bell-cow RB who can’t be trusted to carry the ball 20+ times without a fumble.
He complains about touches but offers nothing in the passing game.
What is his value? What would somebody on this team have to do in order to lose their starting job?
At the very least, Scott needs ti be named the starter and Benson should be lucky to get 6-8 carries next week.

Can anyone think of a team that would pick up Benson if he was cut Monday?

ummmmmmmmmm
Dolphins maybe for a change of pace to bush? Cowboys seems everyone they have keep getting hurt? Other than that nothing

for a change of pace back
You’d think they’d want a power guy, which Ced is definitely not. Ced is purely speed. As many yards as he can get before someone touches him.
p.s.
he has NO speed
get your ass out there and pop em in the mouth, and if that don't work knee em in the nuts
he has mediocre speed
which is what makes it sad that that’s all he has.

I made the comment in the game thread "Please Cut Benson Now"
and honestly I still feel like they should. I’d be happy to go into the last game with our other RB’s, but I may be blinded by my hatred for Ced, which has only developed this year.
Cedric is the goat of yesterdays game win or lose
but he is normally sure handed and if you give him the ball 30+ times he WILL wear down a defense and probably hurt a linebacker or two. I’m all for finding another option next year. We need a marshall faulk type who can run with power between the tackles and has soft hands. But for this year we got Ced and using him to brutalize a defense is the way to make the best of his skill set.
you say that as if anyone hurts themself tackling him
he goes down easier than.. well you know the end of the joke. When has Benson wore down defenses and got better as the game went along? It just doesn’t happen.
I remember that Ced
Just seem to see less and less of Cedric delivering the blow, and more of the guy running like his shoes are untied
But i have to agree if he somehow manage’s to get the faith of the coach’s,and can produce enough to warrant continuing to
hand him the ball 30 +times,we have to be winning in that scenario
I find it hard to believe,if the game is tight late in the forth quarter, and we have the ball on our end of the feild
Any coach would feel comfortable calling his number
"A team is more than a group of individuals, its a group of individuals that come together to make a team"
I cant pinpoint
Weather its selfish play,or just stupidity
I mean Donavan Mcnabb didnt understand overtime rules
Does Cedric not understand securing the ball,i cant ever recall him having 2 hands on the football
Typically when a team has a 23 point lead in the forth quarter, thats when common sense kicks in
and its about whats best for the team as a whole, not gaining a extra yard to add to your already below ave, stats
"A team is more than a group of individuals, its a group of individuals that come together to make a team"
Ced is our #1 'back this year
Explore other options in the off-season, but for now, Ced is still the team’s best option at RB. Scott is not a bell cow RB. Cutting Ced now just doesn’t make sense, as he’s always had good games against the Ravens. He’s had a bad two weeks, but before that, he had not fumbled once. I’m sure the Bengals will explore their options after the season, but Ced has earned the right to finish the season.
To my eyes, the only time Benson has success now
is when O-line creates holes that any NFL RB could run through. Don’t know if it’s his legs, conditioning or his heart, but there’s nothing about him this year that grabs your attention. And then to make the statements he made after the game pretty much cements it for me. He’s a diva and the Bengals are a better TEAM without him.

Having said all that...
I hope he goes for 275 against the Ravens Sunday.

Put the past behind us. Give Benson the ball as if last week never happened.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
I dont like Ced's attitude
or his running. But he is better than anything else we have. Shame he can’t catch, would make a big difference. I do like that he lowers his pads and delivers a hit, and that he always falls forward even if its for only 2 or 3 yards.
I do believe that when we let him go next year he is going to get picked up and have a huge season. He is better than how he runs in our offense.
I don't think Benson is a back who can, on his own carry a team, but....
we could do worse. Benson has pride. I would not have wanted to see him wringing his hands on the sideline. I want to see the same thing form him that I am so glad to see in Andy. Put the last play behind you and move forward. He has a lot of pride and he is also due for another contract this spring. I believe that he will recommit himself this week and have a big game for the sake of his pride and his pocketbook. He will be very highly motivated and motivated his can do a very adequate job. We need to be looking for a FA RB or a pick for the future but right now he is our best option and not at all a bad one.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
there's a difference
between pride and indifference. Ced simply doesn’t care. He’s collecting his paycheck. It’s evident in his face as much as it is in his running style.
I don’t think he’s all about the money, I just think he has the exact same attitude about his work as your average pizza hut employee. He’s just at his job.

A big part of my success as a businessman is the ability to read people kat.
In 27 years I have never hired a guy who wasn’t what I thought he was. I have never ladi off or fired anyone in all of that time. Everyone of my 18 employees who has ever worked for me still works for me. I don’t see what you are seeing. IMO, what you are seeing is surface behavior and not really indicative of what is going on beneath the surface. If he had come out full of angst, anger and apologies I would thuink less of him. I realize that I am in the minority here, but I think there is a lot more going on inside Benson than is apparent.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
fair point
Either way he’ll probably step up this week, either for pride as you say or just to put up one good game at the end of the year to stay employed, as I think.
