According to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy, the Bengals will announce at some point today that they are placing fourth-year wide receiver Andre Caldwell on season ending injured reserve. Caldwell missed the last two games with what was labeled as a groin injury and was replaced on the game-day roster by rookie Ryan Whalen.
With the space that Caldwell leaves open on the active roster, the Bengals plan to promote rookie wide receiver Armon Binns, out of the University of Cincinnati, to the 53-man roster and they plan on signing Vidal Hazelton, also out of the University of Cincinnati, to the practice squad to replace Binns.
In a move that will be announced sometime today, #bengals to place Caldwell on IR, add Binns to 53 and sign Hazelton to prac. squad
Caldwell is in the last season of his rookie contract and considering he's only caught 37 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns this season, even after he became the team's third wide receiver when Jordan Shipley was placed on IR, it's more than likely that we've seen the last of him in stripes.
Binns was signed to the Bengals practice squad in late September when Shipley went on IR. He has never been active for a game. Hazelton worked out for the Bengals in the offseason but went undrafted. He was signed and later released by the San Diego Chargers.
