Wednesday Injury/Practice Report: A.J. Green Limited For Bengals; Anquan Boldin Out For Ravens
The Bengals are playing for a playoff spot against the Ravens on Sunday. If they win, they're in, which makes this the biggest game of the season. Luckily, they're coming into this game relatively healthy. Only Chris Crocker, Taylor Mays and Dontay Moch didn't practice on Wednesday. The other players on the injury report include A.J. Green, Carlos Dunlap and Andrew Whitworth, who were all limited.
For the Ravens, wide receiver Anquan Boldin has already been ruled out for Sunday's game in Cincinnati. Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and Art Jones didn't practice on Wednesday while defensive end Cory Redding and Billy Cundiff were among the limited players.

Wow
AJ looks like he’s going to kill someone in that pic.
Didn't this Moch kid play college ball?
Man what happened, he didn’t miss games like this at UNLV. I know migraines are horrible but why so much more now than then?

Agreed
It would suck if this problem stuck with him throughout his career. I’d hate to see a guy become a bust because of something like that.
Cincy needs some of these guys next year
Mock, Muckelroy and Rivers – hopefully they all can come back next year – no need to draft LB’s
I think we might release Rivers
Free up a ton of cap space. Would this defense really be any better this year with Rivers? He might be a backup coming into 2012. Not worth the money, especially with Moch hopefully turning into a contributor.
Top 10 draft pick pre-CBA rookie deal
He’s got to cost a couple million next year. I’d be all for extending him if he wanted to take a league-minimum deal, but my guess is he’ll be valuable enough to some bottom feeder team to offer him more than that. I like Rivers, but we’re probably better parting ways. Maybe we can get a late draft pick in a trade?
Isn't Lawson on a 1yr deal
I hope they keep Rivers. Howard is big enough to play Sam if Moch doesn’t come around. Besides he will only help the competition and give us depth.

Lawson is on a one year deal

Rivers would not be a free agent until 2014. He signed a six year 20.1 million dollar contract in 2008. He’ll make about $2 million next year, a lot of it was in bonus I think.

You know you've made it in the NFL when a Mexican Newspaper picks up your story.

From what I took from the Baltimore beat writer today,
Yanda isn’t supposed to play.

Boldin out is good...
We have to shutdown Tory smith and Dickson though. They always seem to make plays that kill you.

Just rest AJ all week.
His shoulder needs to be 100%. He was clearly hurting last week. Let him rest this week and he should be good to go. Dalton’s just going to be chucking it up to him in the end zone anyway. Not like there’s a lot of game planning involved there.
Boldin out is big. We were keyed on him last time and now we’ll be taking away Torey Smith. They don’t have anyone to replace him. Hope Crocker’s alright (did I really just say that?).
Ravens Guard Yonda DNP
They need him on their line. Cincy pretty healthy for week 17.
Yanda
ESPN radio today said Yanda is out for Sundays game.

Yeah
Their beat writer for the Baltimore Sun didn’t sound too confident he’d play.

Not sure about Moch
He really excited me when they drafted him but the injuries and the “illness”, which, if my searching is right is migraines haven’t given us any indication if he will be a player or not. Lawson has been strong for the Bengals this year and they need to get him locked up on a multi-year deal before he walks. Keeping cohesion in the front 7 will only make the Bengals stronger on D next year.
Crocker and Mays both not practicing is concerning. Do the Bengals even have another SS on the roster?
Boldin being out could be bad for the Bengals. I know that is a different take, but Nate is fine handling big WR’s who lacking burning speed. With Lee Evans and Smith on the field at the same time I’m worried the secondary is going to get torched. The Bengals need to set the NFL record for sacks in a game this week.
It's never a bad thing when a team's best receiver and only real underneath threat is taken away
Spee on the outside can be dealt with if you’re not worried about a guy like Boldin cutting across the middle and then running for a ton of YAC (cough LARRY FITZGERALD cough). With Yanda out, we’ll be getting to Flacco so there won’t be time for Evans and Smith to get downfield. Boldin’s the guy running the option routes that can save Flacco’s a*s when Dunlap and Atkins and Fanene start flushing him out fo the pocket. Without him, you can play cover 2 and just keep a LB on Rice at all times since you don’t have to worry about Flacco scrambling. Boldin being out is huge.
Normally I would agree with you
however, the Bengals secondary is built more to handle Boldin than they are two speedsters on the outside. Let’s not compare Fitz to Boldin b/c there isn’t a soul who takes Boldin over Fitz. The Bengals held Fitz in check until the final, fumble filled quarter. Fitz made two big plays, 1 crossing route where he got away from Jones (Boldin doesn’t have that sort of speed) and 1 where Crocker and Jones miscommunicated on the coverage. Other than that he was largely controlled.
This Bengals team struggles with speed and having two speedsters worries me. Jones is fast, but still rusty from being out of football so long. Its evident in the loss of his ball skills. He is right with the WR most of the time but keeps miss-timing his jumps, hands, etc. That is rust.
boldin being out is huge
Maybe its me but I feel we are getting healthy at the right time. We win big 27-10 and we don’t stop there. Did anyone catch merill hodge giving us mad love on sportscenter Sunday?
