Maualuga was taking some pretty bad angles and over-running plays (again) against the Steelers.
He was got to improve in this area. The Bengals need Rey (and the rest of the Defense) to step up on Sunday and make some plays – and I mean game-altering plays (forced fumble, INT, huge sacks). Just something to set a tone and knock the Texans in the mouth early.
We often blame the offense for sluggish starts and as the reason why we fall behind early, but the defense can’t let Houston methodically move the ball down field against us. Rey just needs to be a bit more under control (I.e. Not over-pursue) and become more of a playmaker.
Also, curious as to why PFF did not account for the defensive snap that Anthony Collins played last week against Pittsburgh.

CB Performance
I didn’t get to see the game but in the “highlights” I saw Adam Jones and Kelly Jennings looked to be getting burned through the game. Jones even looked hesitant to make tackles. Can anyone provide their assessment of the play at CB?
Adam Jones
Personally, I thought Adam Jones played a pretty good game. (if you can say that about anyone on a team that gets beat that badly.) He had a few big hits early. I can’t remember him getting beat at any time. I thought he was probably the best player we had on D during this game.
I only watched the game once, but here's what I saw
Kelly Jennings got burned a couple of times and whiffed on a couple of tackles. I didn’t notice any particularly poor plays from Adam Jones. Crocker made another bonehead play where Mike Wallace drew a 50-yard pass interference on him on a ball that was probably not catchable. Reggie Nelson seemed to be whiffing on tackles and seemed to always be out of position. Overall, they really weren’t terrible in coverage, the big gains seemed to be when Ben broke out of the pocket and the receiver picked up a lot of YAC. They did a pathetic job tackling though and were often out of place.
Mays
Nice to see Taylor Mays getting some more snaps…definitely a good sign.
