Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson

The Arizona Cardinals are needy at many positions, quarterback being one of them. There are no quarterbacks off the board. Still, Ken Whisenhunt is not a new coach. As the meme goes, with new regimes come new quarterbacks. This is not a new regime. Whisenhunt, since he does not want to risk his job on Newton or Gabbert being busts and there is no "sure thing" QB in this draft, will select Bowers, who is most draft experts' top defensive end.

Although Bowers only has one year of really good tape, with some horrible tape to go along with it from his sophomore year, this year he was completely dominant. He led the nation in sacks and was probably the most dominant and disruptive defensive end this side of Von Miller.

Look, the Cardinals have a lot of needs. They have them across the board at almost every position, even punter and long-snapper. But one area of their defense that was especially exposed last year was their secondary. The defensive line was acceptable against the run in stretches, but failed to get a whole lot of a pass rush. Calais Campbell was their leading sacker with 6 total, and he's 6'7 and almost 300 lbs. Bowers is big enough, at almost 280 pounds, to play the end position in a 3-4. He can also stand up and rush the passer, after showing good agility at the combine.

I realize that the Cardinals run a 3-4 and Bowers fits a 4-3, but I think that he's versatile enough to play in any system. Good pass rushers are hard enough to find regardless of system, and Bowers will help their pass defense quite a bit so DRC, Adrian Wilson and company do not have to cover receivers for 10 minutes per play.
