Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has been ordered by Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard to pay $11,717.39 to Amm One, also known as Exclusive Wear, a clothing store on the 2700 block of Vine Street in downtown Cincinnati, for clothing that he bought and never paid for.
Authorities tried twice to serve Ochocinco with the lawsuit but failed. He never appeared in the case and, when he didn't appear Tuesday, Bouchard ruled for the clothing company.
The clothing that got the receiver in a little hot water included two pairs of Mauri Alligator footwear, valued at $400 a pair, a $400 sweater, a $350 pair of jeans and, top it off, a $250 t-shirt, presumably made of pure 24-carat gold. The clothing was "purchaced" between Sept. 19, 2008, and March 31, 2009.
Ochocinco, if he remains on the team in 2011, is due $6 million and made $6.7 million in 2010. So, $11,000 shouldn't be too hard for him to come up with. Then again, it probably would have been easier, and cheaper, to pay for the stuff when he bought it.
