Nate Solder, OT, Colorado

The NFL is a quarterback's league, plain and simple. Teams now more than ever live and die by their QB's throwing arm to take them to the promised land. Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts are the perfect example of this.

Where do I start? Without Peyton Manning there are no Indianapolis Colts. There is no Lucas Oil Stadium, no domed combine, no Eli Manning popularity, and lastly, no chance the Colts have the most victories in a decade in NFL history.

So why did I pick Nate Solder for the Colts? Plain and simple - Peyton Manning looked human last year. A great year for 99% of quarterbacks, but this was not a Manning year, and not having Manning be superhuman means a 1st round playoff exit, if that. His yards per attempt dropped a full yard from 09-10, and .7 lower than his career average because of constant pressure coming from every direction. He also attempted 679 passes last year, which was the most of his career and most in the NFL, because his running backs averaged 92.7 yards per game, and a pathetic 3.8 yards per carry. Manning and the Colts need some help on the line.

Enter Solder. This kid is a monster, and the best OT left, and has a very high ceiling. Listed a 6-8 and 314 pounds, he is a freakish athlete that is a converted tight end. He is a better in pass blocker than run blocker, which works well in Indy's offense. He also had an excellent senior bowl and is ready to step in on day 1 to protect Peyton's blindside (so Sandra Bullock doesn't have to ala ESPY's).

Nate Solder has terrible technique.

I think the Colts value technique over physical upside. OL was a good pick, but I don’t think they go with Nate. I also don’t get where this “better at pass pro than run block” thing comes from. There is a lot of tape of him on Youtube and it suggests otherwise.
