Bengals To Invite Missouri Quarterback Blaine Gabbert For A Visit And A Workout

Stay connected for news and updates

We already know that the Cincinnati Bengals will hold a private workout with Auburn quarterback Cam Newton. Head coach Marvin Lewis and offensive coordinator Jay Gruden attended Christian Ponder's Pro Day at Florida State as well as Blaine Gabbert's Pro Day at Missouri this week. They are looking hard at quarterbacks, as well as they should. During his Pro Day on Thursday, Gabbert completed 44 of 49 passes with NFL Network's Mike Mayock remarking after the performance:

“It was a better throwing-mechanics workout than what Matt Ryan had. Similar to Sam Bradford’s,” said Mayock on NFL Network’s Path to the Draft program Thursday night.

“He’s the first quarterback off the board.”

Along with Newton, Gabbert at some point will have a private workout with the Bengals and visit Cincinnati, according to Fox Sports' Team Report.

Along with Newton, Gabbert and Ponder, the Bengals have shown interest in TCU quarterback Andy Dalton, who plans to visit Cincinnati in the near future.
