Quick news update about the CBA that I heard today. The NFLPA has found a way to pressure the NFL significantly, and maybe bring about a quick deal before the end of tomorrow when the current agreement ends. Quite simply, the idea is that the players were given two options by a Supreme Court case, the name of which I do not recall, but the options are (1) have a Union or (2) be able to sue the NFL on the basis that it is a monopoly. The NFLPA is threatening on folding to have access to the second option if the deal isn't reached before the deadline is up. In other words, the NFL loses the ability to lock out the players, and also would lose lots and lots of money due to lawsuits. If this doesn't spur the owners to a deal, I don't know what will.<!-- extended entry -->
