2011 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft - The Seattle Seahawks Select...

For the No. 25 pick in the second-annual Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, IgnatiusJReilly selected for the Seattle Seahawks, who have two picks available after trading away their third-round pick to San Diego for Charlie Whitehurst. Here is the pick.....

With the No. 25 pick in the 2011 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select...

Jake Locker, Quarterback, Washington

The Seahawks select...Jake Locker, QB, University of Washington! Matt Hasselbeck will be 36 this September and he already has the spine of an AARP member. Back-up, Charlie "Clipboard Jesus" Whitehurst, who's acquisition resulted in that missing third-round pick mentioned above, doesn't seem to be the answer unless the question is "Who was Jim Caviezel's stunt double in the Mel Gibson film, 'The Passion of the Christ'?".

Star-divide

Had he left Washington for the 2010 draft, the consensus was that Jake Locker had a spot in the top ten on lock. But a lackluster senior season at the helm of an underwhelming Huskies squad- surrounded by a cast that wouldn't qualify as supporting in any sense of the word, took much of the bloom off that particular rose. Hampered by a porous offensive line and a cadre of receivers that hadn't grasped the concept of catching the ball, Locker's draft stock plummeted like Enron. But, after a solid performance at the Senior Bowl and standout numbers at the Combine, the 6-3, 230lb. quarterback has begun to salvage his reputation.

There's never been any question about Jake Locker's athleticism(4.5s 40/35" vertical), about his arm-strength, or about his competitiveness. Accuracy, or the lack thereof, has always been the fly in his ointment- in four years at UW, he never hit the 60 percent completion rate, but this off-season has shown that the blame for some of those errant throws might rightfully rest on the folks who were supposed to be on the receiving end of them.

While the Seattle offensive line needs work, it's light years better than Jake Locker had at Washington and the receiving corps that includes the emerging Mike Williams, the raw but athletic Golden Tate, and a better than average tight end in John Carlson is solid if not spectacular. Add to that, the threat of Marshawn Lynch and the running game- as well as Lynch out of the backfield, and Jake Locker will feel right at home. Give him a year under the tutelage of Hasselbeck and Pete Carroll and Jake Locker will be the face of Seattle football for a long time.

Oh, also,

I failed to mention the added benefit of putting a$$es in seats by drafting the local boy.

I'm just not sold on Locker

So I hope he gets drafted before we pick in the 2nd. Yeah, he had a bad line, and didn’t have great receivers, but as a four year starter, I’d have to believe that at least one of those years, he could’ve cracked 60% or 7.09 yards per attempt.
I have to say though, in highlight video, he did look fast when he took off down the field.
