2011 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft - The Green Bay Packers Select...

For the thirty-second pick in the second-annual Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, and final pick for the first round of this mock draft, we are graced by the presence of the self-styled "Master of Disaster" himself, Sean Weaver.  His selection is for the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers, who have the standard three picks available.  Here is the pick...

With the thirty-second pick in the 2011 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers select...

Stephen Paea, DL, Oregon State

Under General Manager Ted Thompson, the Packers drafts have been steered to the idea of following the draft board to the letter. Thompson always chooses for value, not need, and so far (SB XLV Champions *cough cough*) it seems to be working. Lucky for the Packers, they have few actual needs, so selecting the best player available is the most logical solution at this moment. Under this method, the players available that make sense are Mike LeShoure (RB Illinois), Brandon Harris (CB Miami), and Stephen Paea (DL Oregon State).

Star-divide

Harris can be discarded because he is a little undersized at only 5'10" and also a bit underweight, which does not work in Dom Capers Scheme.  He does have plenty of experience as a man corner, which should mean he could handle the need in Caper's scheme to switch between man and zone as needed, but he doesn't have the height or weight to handle the run support and blitz duties as well as needed.

LeShoure is an ideal back for McCarthy’s zone blocking scheme, but he has bad hands and is not an ideal fit in the pass-heavy offense.

This leaves Paea, and the Packers are thrilled to take him.  It is a shock that Paea, who blew scouts away at the combine by doing 49 reps of 225lbs at the combine, lasted this long. He is somewhat short, but he plays with great leverage and uses his awesome strength to consistently command double teams, which is ideal for the scheme Capers runs. In pass rushing situations he can work inside to collapse to pocket, or bull rush from the outside as a complementary player to Matthews. Paea’s arrival in Wisconsin would make Cullen Jenkins departure almost negligible.

He's a beast.

If we went QB in round one and he were there when we came up again in round two, I would be ecstatic to see this guy in stripes.

That is my thought exactly.

I have always followed two teams. GB and CIN. And would love to see this guy on either team. I was really shocked to see him last this long in this Mock.
