Danny Watkins, G, Baylor

The Cowboys did not fill a need in the first round, so our needs remain the
same.  The Cowboys need defense, especially a 3-4 defensive end, defensive backs
(both safeties and a corner), and a right tackle. The Cowboys offensive line is
old across the board with every starter over the age of 30, except Doug Free at
left tackle. Also the situation at left guard is similar to the Bengals where we
have an adequate starter, but the position could be improved with a first year
starter.

We considered Rahim Moore from UCLA at safety and Brandon Harris from Miami of
Florida at corner, but neither has distinguished himself at the position, and
the Cowboys feel we can get a similar player with better value in round 3. We
also took a long look at Mike Leshoure, the running back from Illinois to
replace Marion Barber, but in the end, Watkins is the better value.

At 6'3, 312, Watkins lacks the height to be a tackle in the NFL, but he may get
a look at right tackle any way. If he does not he can play left guard and be the
back-up at left tackle. Watkins strengths are his mobility and quickness which
will help Felix Jones on screens, and on plays in which he needs to pull.
Watkins did not play high school ball, and is still learning, which gives him a
high ceiling, and he is mature and hard working.

So far, the Cowboys have used our picks to take the best player available and
not addressed any of needs. In the following rounds we will take a more needs
based approach.
