With pick No. 44 pick in the 2011 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, the Detroit Lions select...

Stefen Wiesnewski, C/G, Penn State

The Lions certainly have the pieces in place to have a successful 2011 season and beyond. The most critical piece of the Lions' puzzle is, and will be, QB Matthew Stafford. More precisely, the health and durability of Stafford will go a long way in determining if the Lions will be a viable playoff contender. Thus, after addressing the Defensive Line in the first round with the selection of Cameron Jordan, the Lions turn their attention to the Offensive Line in round two.

Star-divide

At this point, the best available offensive lineman on the board is Penn State C/G Stefen Wiesnewski. Stefen Wiesnewski could go a long way in helping to ensure Matthew Stafford's long-term health and durability. Wiesnewski is an academic All-American who combines strength, quick feet, good leverage, and intelligence to dominant at the point of attack and sustain blocks. He is also very versatile, having started every game of the 2010 season at right guard after starting every game of the 2009 season at center. This versatility gives the Lions added value with this pick.  Additionally, Wiesnewski has NFL bloodlines, with both his father and uncle (Stephen) having played in the NFL.   Ultimately, the Lions envision Wiesnewski taking over the reins at center for Dominic Raiola. Raiola, while serviceable, is rather run-of-the-mill, and is nevertheless entering his 11th season. With the selection of Stefen Wiesnewski, the Lions have found a more than capable replacement who has the potential to be dominant for the next 10-12 seasons.

i see the 49ers are up next.

i would like to recommend Brandon Harris.

and yes, I saw that our first pick was Prince Amukamara, but neither of our CBs are really worth a starting job anymore, and Brandon Harris is much better than the 45th pick in the draft.

We don't need 8 in the box. We have 52 in the box.

I won't give away what the pick is

But I will tell you that it’s not Brandon Harris and it’s not any other cornerback.

damn

looks like Oakland or Jacksonville is getting a stud CB a full round lower than he belongs.

as for the Niners pick, i would guess Colin Kaepernick, Kenrick Ellis, Jabaal Sheard, or maybe a WR? i’ll check back later to see.

We don't need 8 in the box. We have 52 in the box.
