Ashland University is a small college in, you guessed it, Ashland, Ohio, some 50 miles away from Akron. We normally wouldn't be bringing you any news from Ashland, but today is different. According to Pro Football Talk, the Bengals have scheduled a visit with Ashland University wide receiver Joe Horn on April 14.
Horn, a senior at Ashland, was the only non-Bearcat athlete to participate in University of Cincinnati's pro day on Monday. According to Ashland's official athletic website, Horn caught 50 passes for 1,189 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior in high school, ranking him third in Ohio in touchdown receptions. Then from 2007-2009 at Ashland, Horn caught 121 passes for 1,803 yards for 16 touchdowns. He was also named as a preseason second-team All-American by Consensus Draft Services.
According to CBS Draft Scout, Horn is ranked as the 116th best receiver in this year's draft class, stands at 5-11 and weighs 192 pounds. He also has a 40-yard dash time of 4.48 seconds.
When it comes to wide receiver, the Bengals might not be as interested in Horn as they are in A.J. Green or Julio Jones, but Horn may be that late round, compensatory pick, that in four years, every other team wishes they could go back in time and draft him for themselves.
