TSN: Former Bengal Defensive Back Released by Hamilton Tiger-Cats

CINCINNATI - AUGUST 20: Kyries Hebert #34 of the Cincinnati Bengals is tackled by Riley Cooper #14 of the Philadelphia Eagles after Hebert intercepted a pass during the NFL preseason game at Paul Brown Stadium on August 20 2010 in Cincinnati Ohio. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

TSN, that's The Sporting Network -- Canada's leading sports network -- to all of you who aren't familiar with our brothers to the north, is reporting that the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, one of the eight teams in the Canadian Football League, has released former Bengal defensive back Kyries Hebert.

In his one season with the Tiger-Cats (that name seems redundant to me), Hebert only recorded three tackles. Before that, he spent two seasons with the Bengals in which he recorded 56 tackles in 31 games.

Throughout his football career, Hebert has played not only for the Bengals and Tiger-cats, but also for the Ottawa Renegades and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Hey, the Bengals do need help at safety..... just sayin'.

Hebert was..

the main guy getting tackles on special teams when he was with the Bengals. I think they’re weaker in that department since they cut him, but it’s hard to justify a roster spot for a guy who only plays special teams and doesn’t get touchdowns doing it.

redundant "Tiger-Cats" name

The reasoning behind the Hamilton “Tiger-Cats” name stems all the way back to the formation of the team. There were originally two teams in Hamilton, one was called the TIGERS and the other was the WILD-CATS. The two teams merged into one and they selected a name that took the history of both teams into account. I was born and raised in Hamilton, I’ve been a Bengal and Ti-Cat fan since I was a kid (over 20 years) , unfortunately both have more things in common then just their name… the Ti-Cats much like the Bengals, don’t win many games either.

bring him back

If there is a spot that’s open I would love to get herbert back for special teams. We were a lot worse in that department after he left.

I agree

I just don’t think they’ll spend a roster spot on a guy who only contributes there. I could be wrong, of course.

Tiger Cat

The Oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus), also known as the Little Spotted Cat, Tigrillo, Cunaguaro or Tiger Cat, is a small spotted felid found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It is a close relative of the Ocelot and the Margay.

I kind of like Tigrillo. It’s a cat. It’s a spanish fried dish! Wait, it’s both.
