Use Gabbert As Trade Bait

Stay connected for news and updates

Regardless of how you guys may feel about grabbing Gabbert at our 4th pick.  Here is a thought to consider.  I used the NFL Draft Point Value Chart to devise a trade for the Bengals between the Cards and the Bills.  Here's what I came up with...........

I think the Bengals should use Blaine Gabbert as trade bait for the Cardinals. This is assuming that Cam is the first pick and Gabbert has not been selected by the Broncos or Bills.   I would call the Cardinals and tell them im selecting Gabbert and how much do you want him on your team. If Gabbert is on the board.  The Cardinals will be knocking at the door (hopefully in wishful thinking).  If im the Bengals.  I would ask the Cardinals to give us extra picks so they can select Gabbert.  We move down to their 5th pick in the first round and select who we covet the most (Green or Peterson or Quinn or Jones or perhaps Fairley) and get the Cards 4th round pick (106) and 7th round pick compensatory pick (249).  We use our 2nd pick (35), our 7th round compensatory pick (246) and the Cards 7th round compensatory pick (249) to move up to the Bills 2nd pick (34) to get Ponder.  This is only considering the fact that if there is that much of need of teams getting a QB of this years draft.  Im stating this because a lot of analyst think we have to move up to get Ponder.  Hopefully we do not need to move up in the first round and hopefully any of these instances are not the case. If we do not need to move up in the first round then this draft method may apply.  Come draft day we will know how much of a demand of QB's will be taken.  What do you all think?

I know many of you would take Gabbert if he is there as the 4th pick in the first round.

We would get the Cards 4th round pick (106), which would give us an extra pick.  If we could get an extra pick out of this trade scenario. Do you think this would be beneficial?

I feel that most teams are built in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds in the drafts.  Perhaps even the 6th and 7th rounds as well.  This can allow us to address another need at a higher round pick aka the 4th round, with value.  Though we will be splitting even in having the same amount of picks for this year.  Were giving up a 7th round pick and gaining a 4th round pick.
