New west coast offense with Gruden...

Correct me if I’m wrong, but these 5 teams presently run the WCO (west coast offense):

Eagles 27.4 (3)

Packers 24.3 (10)

49ers 19.1 (24)

Redskins 18.9 (25)

Rams 18.1 (26)

2 of them had very good offenses, and 3 of them had very bad offenses. The only one with a really good RB was Steven Jackson who was on the worst team. But the top 2 teams each had great QB’s while the bottom 3 all had bad QB’s (or a rookie QB in the Rams’ case).

So the moral of the story seems to be that if we are supposedly switching to the WCO in 2011 that regardless of who is running the ball, we need to have a very good QB to be able to pull the WCO off successfully.

With the Palmer’s gone (Carson leaving and Jordie hopefully following behind), that means that the Bengals have to find a great QB in either Dan Lee Flowers, Plain Blaine & the Gabberts, Cam the Sham Newton or one of the free agents that they can’t presently sign due to no CBA in place.

Why does this not instill a lot of confidence in me for Bengal’s success in their upcoming season? Unless we consider success the ability to get the #1 overall pick and go after Andrew Luck in 2012.
