Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett, a projected second round pick that the Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly very high on, hasn't tested positive for any drugs, nor does he have any character issues, according to Arkansas Razorback head coach Bobby Petrino.
Petrino says his players are randomly screened for drugs by the NCAA and the university, and that Mallett has never tested positive for any banned substances. He says he has talked to a number of NFL teams about Mallett, and tells them the same thing: Mallett doesn't have any character issues.
The issue of illegal drug use surfaced several months ago, causing enough concern from teams about his character, which includes the lack of leadership skills. Mallett recently visited the Bengals over the course of two days, reportedly happy with his stay.
