2011 NFL Draft: Undrafted Free Agents For The Bengals To Target
Today should be the day when the Bengals release the names of 6-10 undrafted players they have agreed to terms with. Instead, NFL teams, players and agents are waiting for the new league year to start. Whenever that happens, teams will rush to sign players they may have coveted during the NFL Draft. Undrafted players have as good of a chance to make the Bengals 53 man roster as the players chosen in rounds six and seven. In the Marvin Lewis era, the Bengals have kept 30 UDFAs in 8 seasons. That's an average of 3.75 per season, and as many as 7 UDFAs ended up playing on the 53 man roster in 2008. And that's not counting the practice squad. I have compiled a list of 35 undrafted free agents with the best shot at making the Bengals 53 man roster in September. If any of the players on this list just so happen to read this, please sign with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Brandon Saine - RB, Ohio State
Would be an awesome 3rd down back.
He’s not a great between the tackles back for the NFL, but has great hands and great speed (ran a 4.38 at his pro day).
Of course i know the Bengals hate drafting Buckeyes so i know it won’t happen.
Brandon Saine would be an excellent pickup.
I guarantee he’ll be brought in. I like him a lot.
I do, however, think that we will look at free agent kickers as well as free agent safetys. We will also snag veteran safety’s like we always do.
Yes
I have been saying they should pick up Brandon Saine ever since they picked up Jay Finley with their comp. I actually had the Bengals drafting Saine in the same spot as Finley. Brandon has more potential than Finley IMO. He is also closer to Ced’s size than Finley and is faster. They should at least bring him in (with some O-linemen as well) and see what happens.

Not really.
Brian Leonard is a free agent and Bernard Scott is our #2. Brandon Saine is a good pass catcher, and reminds me of a Reggie Bush in terms of ability to split out wide, catch the ball and verstility. I think he could be our 3rd back because of those skills and speed he possesses.
Kicker
They should really go after Kai Forbath…he will be nice and cheap and with his leg it will be well worth it! Mike Nugent is a joke!
Mario Fannin from Auburn
5’-10, 230lbs., 4.3 40. Has great hands and excels at blitz pickup and protection.

Fannin is good
I wouldn’t mind seeing him in stripes but, the report I read on him says that he fumbles quite a bit. If he could work that out he would be a beast.

+1 Derrick Locke
Why we took this kid from Baylor over him I’ll never know. Is he a friend of the family?
Derrick Locke
Derrick Locke tweeted that NFL teams seem to think- yeah, I don’t know what that means exactly either, that he has a spine injury of some sort. He doesn’t seem to think so but it gives one pause, ya know- and I say this as a loyal Kentucky homer.

Just going by position
FB, of course, though we already have several developmental guys on the roster. I’d also say DT, given the fading of Tank Johnson. I think we should stick with our developmental interior o-linemen—i.e., Hudson and Stephens, but it wouldn’t hurt to try out some more.
you mean...
after everyone whining to get chris pressley back that we finally do and now people want another fullback?
RIP Slim.
It seems like we always get a FB
I’d personally like to find one and stick with him, but I’m not so sold on Pressley or Fui that I don’t want competition.

Tejay Johnson
elected to retire from football in order to work with the deaf and hard of hearing. He skipped all the post-season All-Star Games and the Combine in order to finish his degree in that subject. Pretty cool story about a guy who really has his priorities in order.
i thought about TE Scott Sicko who didnt want to play football last year
And the Cowboys brought him in and he made the practice squad.

Might not be a bad idea
to maybe entice Johnson with some off the field work at, say, St. Rita’s School for the Deaf- the only deaf or hearing-impaired organization in the area I can think of off the top of my head. This way, he could both fulfill his noble goal of helping others while perhaps earning a salary that would enable him to do even more later. Sounds like a super kid.

Agreed here.......
Sands was a good start, but we need more depth bad. McDaniel must have really scared teams with “off the field” issues! Very surprised he went undrafted……..

I was shocked too!!
In the 4th round I was wanting the Bengals to draft DeAndre McDaniels!! lol So I definately want him as a free agent pick up! I would also go for Derrick Locke or Mario Fanin, and my 3rd choice would be Terrance Toliver!!! I know Im a LSU homer but this guy has speed and size at 6’4 he was known to drop a few passes in college but everyone at LSU did with their suckie QB play!! Take him he could be a starter in a couple years!!!
Obviously,
they’re not going to get all those guys. Mike Brown probably still uses one of those old bakelite, rotary-dial telephones that mean never winning radio station call-ins. But bringing in Deunta Williams, DeAndre McDaniel, Joe Lefeged, Jeron Johnson, and, if they can bribe him with community service, Tejay Johnson all into camp to compete with Sands, Nelson, Crocker, and Ndukwe would be freaking awesome. Also, as many offensive linemen, up to and including any dude with his own gravitational system they might run into in the community, as possible would be nice.

Possibly Jake Kirkpatrick
if Dalton trust him. He’s the center from TCU.
FB, Safety, Kicker
Kicker is a no brainer. We need one.
If we want power running, we need some beef in the backfield—FB is a must. We have some options right now, but don’t see why wouldn’t increase the competition at a position we didn’t even bother with having last year.
Is anyone surprised that so many of the higher ranked safeties went undrafted? I like Sands, but we need more competition back there considering our desperate need at the position.
Other possibilities—you can never have too much depth on the offensive line and defensive line. Grab a couple of projects and try to develop him into an effective lineman. Same goes for WR. We grabbed a guy late, which may deter a free agent signing, but again maybe not. Terrence Tolliver—tall and fast, could be a good project. Also, another TE is possible. We need a blocker with some red zone ability—Cameron Graham.
This Is What We Need
Brandon Saine RB
Derrick Locke RB
DeAndre McDaniel FS
Deunta Williams FS
Jerrad Tarrant FS
TeJay Johnson FS
Armon Binns WR
Jake Kirkpatrick C
Justin Boren OL
Ian Williams DL
Kendric Burney DB
Zach Hurd OL
i accidently voted for kciker
because i thought it said which position would be the easiest to keep their spot. why is everyone hating on mike nugent he did good last year hitting some 50+ he also won us a game. I think we should at least wait till he does bad before we kick him out. And his rehab is going well. did he suck on the jets yes but sometimes kicking is mental and by going somewhere else you can do better.
