My thoughts on all things offseason

Well, since there is no real news going on in the NFL, I figure I will give my take on everything from the draft to Palmer.

First thing, I will get the Palmer opinion out of the way because im sure youre all as sick of it as me.  I think if he dosent want to be here we should trade him, although Mike Brown is to stubborn to so Palmer will retire.

Chad I think needs to be traded or cut.  I like Chad and it has been a great run for him here in Cincy, but I think we need to move on from the past of Palmer and Ocho.  I think Simpson needs to be given a chance so we can see what we really have in him.

I wasent all to thrilled with the draft, and im still not.  I think reciever was a luxery pick, and was not high on Dalton.  As long as the Bengals bring the right players in to surround them in the near future I think it can work out though.  I like Daltons personallity and attitude.  He seems like a leader and a guy that the players will respond to.  Hopefully he has enough talent to be good in the NFL.  Moch, and Sands I think can really help the special teams and be contributors on defense.  Lindsey may have the talent to turn into a good corner down the road, and Boling should at very least be better than Livings.  I think the Bengals need to help out Dalton by improving the line and making the offense work for him.  If they do that this could turn into a really good draft.  If not and Dalton fails, and we go through 10 years untill we get another qb worth a damn, then AJ Green is wasted at reciever.  Thats my main beef with drafting a reciever the way this team is.

In my opinion the Bengals need to make sure Carlos Dunlap isint taken out of the game.  They need other consistant pass rushing threats.  If MJ and Adkins continue to do that our defensive line is in a very good spot,  I fear what happend with Geathers will happen with Dunlap.  He has a good year, the Bengals do nothing to help him, and he gets all the attention and nobody else can do anything.

If I was running the Bengals for free agency my first priority is to bring back JJoe.  The corners have made up for the lack of a star saftey and front seven for this long, if the front seven comes together the defense will be dominant.  I dont think you break up the duo of Hall and JJoe.  Even if you cant keep both, Hall is the one I would get rid of.  Second priority is to find some help on the oline.  I would love to get Alan Faneca next to Whit and give them a stop gap gaurd while they see what they have in Boling.  Even someone like Deuce Lutui or Chris Chester, just for some stability.

The Bengals would also be smart to grab a free agent qb to teach Dalton the ropes.  Hasselbeck would be my first choice.  Even someone like Tyler Thigpen or Trent Edwards would be nice to start the season with untill Dalton is ready.  In a shortend off season I dont see him being able to step in game one.  I would keep Benson if he isnt asking a lot.  If he is hes replaceable.  Someone like Mike Bell, Ricky Williams, Mike Bush, or Leron Mclain splitting carries with Scott would be fine, and probably better in this system.
