John Thornton held his Ninth Annual Jock Biz's Bowling for Charity event on Saturday. And during the event an auction was held in which defensive tackle Geno Atkins won an Xbox Kinect. What did he do with it?

He is the type of guy that will sack your ass 10 times in a game, then after it buy you dinner afterwards for ripping your head off. He will also put $20,000 to their charity. What a class act!

Absolutely.

There’s absolutely nothing better than a guy who is a complete animal on the field and a nice, mild-mannered guy off the field. He’s the kind of guy you love having on your team and he was a gem to find in the late rounds.

Actually, could someone please refresh my memory about why on earth he fell so far? Were there some overblown character concerns?

Size and motor.

He’s undersized. Just over 6 foot and 290 pounds with not much room to grow. He is not a run defender, he’s a 1 gap 3 technique through and through. This limits what kind of schemes he can thrive in. They said he couldn’t handle a double and had motivation issues.

This is why he’s a great pas rusher for us. He may not be able to handle a double, but hat on a hat he’s a mismatch every time. Deceptive power for his size and feet that move like a dancer. When you have Dunlap on one side and MJ on the other he doesn’t have to worry about doubles. I also haven’t seen any problems with his motor.

Unfortunately, for all these reasons, we definitely need another run stopping DT.
