Former Bengals Wide Reciever Signs With UFL's Omaha Nighthawks

Stay connected for news and updates

According to Fox Sports, former Bengals wide receiver Maurice Purify signed with the United Football League's Omaha Nighthawks (how cool of a name is that?), a squad with names like quarterback Jeff Garcia, linebacker Cato June and running back Ahmad Green on last year's roster. Former Ohio State University running back Maurice Clarett is currently on the roster. Purify will join quarterback Eric Crouch.

Purify was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2008 with the Cincinnati Bengals, spending much of his time on the team's practice squad until mid-November in 2009 where he made his debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers, mostly in special teams contributions. Purify never made it past final cuts before the 2010 season (Purify actually sighed in relief), eventually signing with the AFL's Georgia Force.

As a side note, Purify was born in Eureka, California. Eureka's new season premiered on SyFy to the joyous Sci-Fi nerd in me.
