According to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, the Bengals have signed Louisville guard Mark Wetterer, a former high school player out of Anderson. Wetterer continued his playing career at the University of Louisville, starting 28 games, with coaches naming him a 2010 First Team All-Big East player during his final season.
Wetterer was also nominated by University of Louisville Head Coach Charlie Strong for the Rudy Awards for character, courage, contribution and commitment. Wetterer was a three star prospect coming out of high school and besides Louisville, received offers from West Virginia, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Connecticut amongst others.
Wetterer will be able to add competition and depth at the offensive guard position, which is important considering that Evan Mathis and Nate Livings are unrestricted and restricted free agents respectively. If nothing else, it gives offensive line coach Paul Alexander a tough hard working kid to work with during camp.
