Bengals Sign Northeastern Running Back John Griffin

According to Jeff Thomas at MassLive.com, the Cincinnati Bengals have signed University of Massachusetts running back John Griffin on Tuesday. Thomas writes that "Griffin was the team's No. 2 rusher, carrying 168 times for 843 yards and five touchdowns." When asked about signing with the Bengals, Griffin responded:

“I felt good,” Griffin said about receiving the call from the Bengals. “I'm just excited to have another place to go and try to keep playing.”

Griffin was a product of Northeastern for three years before the school axed their football program, rushing for 1,009 yards rushing on 207 carries and five touchdowns, catching 25 passes for 178 yards during his final season at Northeastern. He was named on the First Team All-CAA, Northeastern's Most Valuable Player and Most Improve Player, also named to the 2009 New England Football Writers Football Championship Subdivision All-Star team.

Between Northeastern and his only season at UMASS, Griffin rushed for 2,014 yards on 421 carries and 12 touchdowns.
