SIGN NATE CLEMENTS
I think we should definitely go after Clements after letting Joesph go. Him leaving leaves a big void to play the opposite side of Leon Hall. I don't think that Pac Man, Morgan Trent, or Brandon Ghee is ready to start at corner. So I hope MB can stop sitting on his thumb and open up his wallet. Sign Clements to maybe a two year deal. He is still a solid player who has some juice left in the tank. What do you guys think?

My thoughts exactly
Me and my bro were discussing the absurdity that is the Bengals logic and letting JJ walk away and i started to think hey, the 49ers just released Clements and he played well last year…looking at his 2010 stats were pretty good (3 int, 1 sack and 3 FF with 10 PD)…would be a big help in this transition period and would be great in mentoring the young talent that we have.
guys wake up
when was the last time mike made a move to help this team? unless the move in someone hurts the quality of the product on the field and saves mike a buck, he won’t make the move.
nate’s only chance of coming here, he needs to start getting arrested. Antonio Cromartie is enough of a head case, if the other teams in the nfl pass on his talent, mike will call.

Totally Unfair
Mike Brown makes a lot of mistakes, but he has over the few years made a number of moves to help the team. It was not his fault that Antonio Bryant had a second knee injury the doctors missed. He did bring in Terrel Owen last year, and most people thought that was a good move. Brown will always watch his money carefully, and he does need a bigger research team of scouts and doctors, but lets not confuse mistakes with a failure to act.
um
TO only came here b/c nobody else would offer him 1 penny to play in the NFL. and mike only offered TO the lowest contract he would take. recall how mike played chicken with TO for months before finally accepting the lowball offer?
as well as overloading the roster with throw away wr garbage to make it seem even less likely we wanted or needed TO?
and there is always the factor that TO was placed on the IR before the end of the season. if you read the reports last season, injured or not, he was done playing with the bengals. lewis had had enough of him.
so this idea that TO helped the bengals more than hurt the bengals.. well, if you really want to believe that.

That was not my argument
Of course Brown got TO for as little money as possible. Who wouldn’t? That is not the point. My point was the biggest need for the Bengals going into 2010 in the minds of many was the lack of receivers. Brown did open his wallet and get Bryant, and when there was reason to believe he was injured they also brought in TO. My point is that he does go out and get players to fill holes identified by his coaches.
Bryant had a second injury that the Bengals and Bucs doctors missed, that had nothing to do with the original knee injury. Bad luck for all concerned.
A LOT of people were excited by the TO signing, and it turned out that TO, Chad, and Palmer were a bad mix. It’s not drinking the Kool Aid to remember people were excited.
The argument was that Brown failed to act, my counter is no, he did act, it didn’t work, but that is different than sitting on his hands refusing to make a move.

bryant
if brown didnt employ the cost cutter medical staff, google the reports on our medical staff. we’re rated dead last most seasons by the players pole, cincy probably wouldn’t have blown that money on bryant.
also, recall that the whole bryant mess was setup when brown tried to save a buck by not resigning TJ.
mike works hard at spending a quarter to save a penny.

I totally agree on Clements
He is older, but has been healthier over the years, and was not released for his play, but for his large contract. He would be a good pick up for this year.
There are quite a few decent CBs still out there
everyone is up in arms about JJo but the truth is he is not worth 10 mil a year if he cannot play the whole season. hopefully we pick someone else up to replace him, but i think there are some better options left than Clements. Cromartie, Carlos Rogers, Gay, Newman… all good corners that would work well with Hall. No need to panic about Jjo, we just need to grab some decent FAs while they are still there.
i will be very suprised if
Pacman is not going to be the starter. And Trent and Ghee hold it off til he’s healthy.

totally disgusted
people keep saying “we would have had to overpay for Joseph” ……NOT IF WE HAD EXTENDED HIM A YEAR AGO INSTEAD OF BEING CHEAP.
Mike Brown is a joke.
And Clements really isnt even very good. I live on the west coast and watched a lot of 49er games last year, he is very very average.
Hi fans it Brandon Roy.
And ME.....LaMarcus Aldridge
I'm cool with average.
Coming at a decent price and playing across from Hall, average is fine.

Why are you worried about price?
We’re so far away from the cap it’s basically a legend at this point.
Im ok with Clements
Lets just see what happens at 6pm when the waiver wire comes out officially and can sign at that time, soooo the new time to get excited about will start at 6pm today… try to put yesterday out of your minds guys, Bengals arent gonna Overpay any Free Agents, its just business on both sides of it, so just be Happy Theirs Football.
I still want O-line help

Sign Clements
Cromartie is a mildly bad Locker room guy from what I have heard. Clements is old, but we have the cap room, in fact we have to start spending on something, by rule and CB is our biggest need. There are other CBs available, but Clements is probably the # 3 guy on the market overal, and can fill in until April.
