It was a competitive offer [from the Bengals] but at the end of the day, you have to weigh all the options. You know, what your team has in play. You know the starting quarterback, an all-pro quarterback, Pro Bowlers, best receiver in the NFL, great tight end, leading rusher from last year. Look at the D-line. You’ve got guys on the D-line that are all-pro players, DeMeco Ryans, Bryan Cushing. Just a chance to be an addition to that defense says a lot for me as part of this team. It was a no-brainer for me."

He left for greener pastures.
Can’t blame him. Can’t blame the FO either. Hopefully we put a product on the field in the next 5 years that will make our FAs want to stay.
Man JJo
The grass sure is greener down in Houston. That sounds awfully nice to hear.
Hopefully our new players we just got are able to be this way in 2-3 years.
what we've known all along
mike has to overpay to get people willing to put up with the way he runs his team.

DB was a huge hole, especially sharing a division with Manning

Don't fool yourself
we lost J Jo last year when he WANTED to be signed. He would have been had for much less money and all would be well.
But no. That would not be the Mike Brown way.

That is what I've been saying all the time.
Leon Hall is next. He should try and sign him now but he’ll wait to test the market to see what his value is first. Always trying to be thrifty and it bites him in the end. But he never looks at it that way, he never gets bitten… Just ask him.
Yeah, sure.
He still chased the money.

who wants to play for a loser.
He was getting payed no matter what so he went with a team headed in the right direction. Carson messed this team up so bad and now no one is gonna want to come or stay in cincy until they win. The bengals just went 10 years backward this week.

As I read his comments
It summarizes to I got out of Cincy as soon as I could.

How did we not have pieces in place?
I still don’t understand that mentality. Yeh, the season we came off was trash but everyone underachieved. We’re not a bad team. We’re not completely without talent. We have a good amount, actually. On offense, our receiving stable is incredibly young and incredibly dynamic. Our OLine is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The only massive hole is RB and the fact that we have a rookie QB. Our DLine stepped it up massively last season and our LB play looks to improve with the transition of Maualuga to MLB. We finally have a decent safety in the backfield.
What are we missing?
gogdammit.
fan says that!
We’ve drafted.well, but would you really say the bengals draft sucked? Even if wr drafted a bunch.of nobody’s we will still have hope that they played good. The bengals losing.culture continues, we will be lucky to get gm 6 wins1

Our recent drafts are not the problem
It’s the head office that continues to screw this team over and over again. Some players get frustrated, some become placid. Others get the hell out. There are sparks of hope, but they are not allowed to click because of a high level of asshattery. Yes, I just made that term up. Mike Brown has a asshattery level of 99.

as much as i hope youre right
You can’t even compare us to the Texans. Shaub > Dalton, Johnson > green, Daniel’s > Greshem, foster > whoever we have, Ryan’s > maualuga. Potential dosent out weigh great people. For all we know everyone we have could suck.

Well, I wouldn't say that.
I’ve not believed that the players alone were the issue. This team’s issues start from the top and work downhill.

of corse theyre not
I wish the bengals problem was players. I was just saying I can see why Joseph would pick Texans over cincy from a player stand point.

He got about as much as Nnamdi guaranteed (23.5 to 25 million)
With his injury history, eh. He only plays about 2/3 of the time. I mean I wouldn’t be upset had they signed him, but it’s not really that bad, I don’t think.
