As for the safety position, the reason they haven’t made major moves is that the Bengals haven’t seen what they have on their own roster yet. The team had a 3rd round grade on FS Robert Sands and they got him him the 5th. Plus they really liked safety Reggie Nelson last year and he was in training camp with the Jags last year. Chris Crocker will probably be the starter at safety, assuming he’s recovered from injury. Coaches love him. The free agent market for safeties was pretty weak anyway, so all of that out together equals no moves. Adding Gebril Wilson today seems like a no risk training camp move. If he pans out, they have him for the veteran minimum, if he doesn’t play well, he’ll get released. Roy Williams is always an option. But only if other guys don’t pan out.
