Bengals Interested In Center Casey Rabach

LANDOVER - SEPTEMBER 12: Casey Rabach #61 of the Washington Redskins snaps the ball during the NFL season opener against the Dallas Cowboys at FedExField on September 12 2010 in Landover Maryland. The Redskins defeated the Cowboys 13-7. (Photo by Larry French/Getty Images)

According to Ken Weinman from Baltimore 105.7 The Fan, Center Casey Rabach (not that Casey Ryback) is deciding whether to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals or Baltimore Ravens.

When Rabach isn't cooking dinner aboard the USS Missouri for Captain Adams, saving a stripper from mortal doom, Rabach is a starting center in the NFL. Drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft, Rabach played four seasons in Baltimore before signing with the Redskins, starting 95 games in six seasons in Washington.

According to Pro Football Focus (you knew that was coming), Rabach's grade of -14.3 rated third-worst on the team behind Jammal Brown and Trent Williams last season.

We highly doubt Rabach would be signed as a replacement for Kyle Cook, who recently signed as a restricted free agent, expected to start practicing with the team on Thursday. Cook is rated as one of the better offensive linemen behind Andrew Whitworth and Bobbie Williams, scoring the the team's second-highest run blocking score of 7.3.

RE:

He’s started every year at center since 2004, so beyond that, I don’t know.

Depth is crucial.

Bengals are thin at everything.

This would be good depth and experience but...

what about Donte Whitenr or a new gaurd. We need to get impact players. MB come on! Sign Whitner, Leron Mclain, and a gaurd and we should be solid going into the regular season.

These FA moves are puzzling.

WR is not a position of concern. If you sign someon on OL, it has to be a guard. Reggie Stephens is a more than adequate backup at C from what I saw last preseason.

People do realize...

Bengals have to fill 90 slots, right? Not everyone of those can be a “big name”. The Patriots and Packers have scrubs too.

Hawkins simply fills a roster spot for preseason etc thats all!

This is one FA I hope we don't get

Nothing against him, but I’d rather go to war with Cook and Stephens, and use FA to focus on other positions.

But if we’re thinking about moving Stephens to guard, I’d be okay with it.

only 1 year though

@ 27 yrs old . he is the type you need to get for at least a 3 year deal. We are slowly but surely improving.

This is a one-year replacement for Keith Rivers injury no?

Happens to be one of the best linebackers available right now, but nonetheless..

Or maybe it's the opposite

Door seems to have closed on Brandon Johnson, though. Dhani too.

O'Hara from NYG?

Plays C and G. An option?

by wiseking on Aug 2, 2011 1:22 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

...actually so does Rabach

Solid veteran help on OL
Either would be decent additions

This is all for depth.

At least, it had better be. Rabach was not a good starter in Washington. I’m from around there, and I watch a lot of Skins games. He can fill in, but he’s not a quality starter.

Home of the original Kitten Mittens.

Can he play guard?

Guard is easier to play than Center, so maybe he can be productive there?
