So pessimistic.

It's like this game mattered or something. Jeez.

Look, I get it, it's the Lions. That team that went 0-16. That team everyone thought was the worst in the league, the team with the GM that drafts all the wide receivers in the first round, etc., etc., etc. Take the blinders off. Ever since Matt Millen was fired and they brought in Martin Mayhew, that team has improved by leaps and bounds. They're a playoff-caliber team and could even win the NFC North this year.

And they trashed us. In the preseason. Big freaking deal.

The point of preseason is for the starters to get an opportunity to gel in a real-game situation and for back-ups to prove their worth (which actually destroys the point of football because then it's singular back-ups trying to excel in a team game). Our starters started off bad. Dalton threw a pick on his first pass, Hall allowed two TDs. However, our running game picked up, our run defense looked spectacular, Maualuga. It wasn't purely bad, not nearly as bad as you guys are making it out. One. Game. Is. Not. Damning.

Especially in the preseason.

So stop saying we're going 0-16, 3-13, 4-12 just off one game. Stop saying we're lining up for Luck (we're lining up for Dre Kirkpatrick obviously). Stop saying we're screwed for now and the future. It's way too early to make that judgment.

That said, Fred Bennett and Nate Livings need to leave. I just wish we had options to sign to fill their spots. CB and OL are kinda thin on the market right now.
