Question from KC fan about Tank Johnson..

I saw obviously that he got cut but I wondered if you could give me some insight as to how good of a player he still is...thanks!

Tank is on the downside of his career, but he's still a decent player

I don’t know if he would be the answer as a starter right now, but he’d be a great backup to have on your team.

You could say..

…that there isn’t much left in the Tank (sorry, couldn’t resist), but UpStateMike is right…he’d be a decent backup..definitely not a starter. I think he became expendable here after Geno Atkins played well enough last year that they made him a starter.

Agreed

If you need a short term starter, he is a good pick-up, but he is not a long-term solution. He might end up as an injury replacement somewhere this year.

"Serviceable" is about as high as I'll go on him

We definitely saw an improvement when he came out for Sims or Atkins.

lol i remember when sims replaced thorton

and we got better…

Then we get tank and push sims back… Then sims replaces tank and we get better again..

Of course geno atkins dunlap and mj made a lot of noise too…

tank is one of the bubble veterans that the strike is costing

he’ll have to take a vet min deal this year or retire.
