when did this happen? "offensive tackle Joe Thomas, 26, who left the league in 2010 after five seasons with the Cleveland Browns"

they’ve since edited out the “who left the league in 2010” part, so there’s no reference to him being retired anymore. Though they still refer to Jim McMahon as a 2 time super bowl champion, even though he never stepped onto the field in Super Bowl 31 with the Packers and only attempted 4 passes that entire season.

So apparently the Joe Thomas retire is a false alarm.
