Bengals Announce Taylor Mays Trade And Promptly Release Five Players
Not that Taylor Mays is worth those five players, or maybe he is. Regardless. After announcing that the Taylor Mays trade is now official (aka he passed his physical), the Bengals announced that they have waived five players on Tuesday:
#bengals say Mays trade is now official and announce they have released WR Cox, OG Gardner, WR B.Johnson, WR Standeford, HB J.Williams
Andrew Gardner is the only player from this group with extensive experience with the Cincinnati Bengals. And by extensive, we mean that he was signed to the Bengals practice squad in mid-November last year before signing on Cincinnati's offseason roster after the regular season came to an end. Landon Cox missed both preseason games whereas wide receiver Bart Johnson played both, failing to post a reception. John Standeford did post two receptions for 25 yards receiving, including the team's third-longest pass reception of the preseason -- an 18-yard reception against the Jets.
This drops the team's overall roster to 86 players, approaching an August 30 deadline in which NFL teams have to reduce their roster to 80 players.

They didn't cut Bennet? Oh my god.
What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.
