The Grass in Always Greener

If you haven't yet been down to Georgetown, Kentucky to watch Bengals Training Camp, you are truly missing out. A.J. Green is putting on a show like no rookie receiver I have ever seen. He runs routes with precision and grace for his size. He has made diving catches along the sideline and jump balls over multiple defenders. It seems that the Bengals defense can't find an answer for him. Will other teams be able to?

The first depth chart was released today which really doesn't mean a thing; however, to the surprise of some Bengals fans, A.J. Green is not listed as the number one receiver. That job belongs to emerging star Jerome Simpson. This may be to the benefit of A.J. Green. Instead of drawing the top cornerback of each defense he faces, Green may be matched up against the taller and less athletic corner. With his speed and athleticism, Green could exploit this easily. Don't get too excited though, Jerome Simpson won't be drawing many double teams like we one saw Chad Ochocinco once do. Green will have to work for yardage. Nonetheless, this man is set for a breakout rookie season.

The weapons the Bengals have on offense this year are remarkably surprising. Jermaine Gresham is one of the most versatile and dangerous tight ends I have ever seen. The slot receiver and fan favorite Jordan Shipley will likely find openings over the middle on quick routes from new number one quarterback Andy Dalton. Also, don't sleep on Andre Caldwell who has had a stellar camp as well. This team is very talented on offense, but their inexperience may hamper their ability to succeed. They don't have to be a top 10 offense, but if they move the ball and the defense plays moderately well, this team could win some games. I'm optimistic to say the least. And you?
