+ 9.11.2011: Bengals Week One Win Over The Browns. Expectations for the 2011 Cincinnati Bengals were as low as they've ever been. And we should be mindful that those expectations have less to do with talent, or hope in the near-future, and more to do about the unknown. And during the team's first regular season of the year, there wasn't much belief that the team could pull off a win during the early stages of their rebuilding season. And we were alright with that, believing that the team must do whatever they have to gear up for a more-competitive season in 2012 with rebounding expectations.
Not only did they beat the Browns by ten points, the Bengals head into week two against an injury riddled team that could give Cincinnati their first 2-0 start to a season since 2006. Talk about uniting the letters, W, T and the infamous F. This is brilliant. Cedric Benson was reenvisioned as his 2009 copy and the Bengals quarterbacks combined for a passer rating of 99.8. Really?
The implications of last Sunday's win might not be huge for the season as a whole, or they could be as critical on Sept. 11 as they are in week 17. We just won't know. But right now, the result was perhaps the most satisfying win I've felt with this team for some time.
