According to ESPN Insider Chris Mortensen, the Cincinnati Bengals are planning to play wide receiver Jerome Simpson, despite everything that's happened this week.

Bengals plan to play WR Jerome Simpson vs. 49ers despite being excused from practice following marijuana bust at home this week.

This is somewhat shocking, to be honest. Not because we believe Simpson is guilty, maybe the facts that we don't know provides a deeper understanding into the overall mess. Regardless we have to believe that if there is a hint of truth behind the allegations about Simpson's involvement, he wouldn't play. Why would Lewis set himself up for that if only Simpson were to be arrested this time tomorrow?

According to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, the Bengals will not confirm the report that Jerome Simpson is going to play against the 49ers this afternoon. According to Hobson, they are expected to announce his status before the inactive list comes down at 11:30 a.m.
