If only 43,000 and change showed up in late September for the first home game of the season, who’ll bother to devote a large chunk of the day before Christmas to freezing their butts off to watch a team that likely will be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention? Ditto for New Year’s Day, when the season ends with a visit from the Ravens? Notwithstanding all other hot spots when it comes to the lack of sellouts, the 2011 Bengals could end up posting some of the worst attendance numbers in years.
