Bengals Wide Receiver A.J. Green Nominated For NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Month

Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was one of eight rookies nominated for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month Award for September. Green led all rookie receivers with 15 receptions and his 194 yards receiving ranks second behind Atlanta's Julio Jones (215 yards receiving). Baltimore's Torrey Smith (3) is the only rookie with more receiving touchdowns than Green (2) -- and he did that against the St. Louis Rams last week.

Cam Newton is the obvious winner for the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month Award for September, posting 1,012 yards passing in three games, with four passing touchdowns and two rushing. Other nominations for the award includes Dallas kicker Dan Bailey, Green Bay kick returner Randall Cobb, New Orleans running back Mark Ingram, Atlanta wide receiver Julio Jones, Baltimore wide receiver Torrey Smith and Miami running back Daniel Thomas.

Defensive rookie of the Month for September went to Washington linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, who posted 12 tackles, two quarterback sacks, a forced fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown.
