Arizona Cardinals Claim Cornerback Korey Lindsey Off Waivers

As we projected our practice squad prediction, one aspect predicated that all of those players passed waivers. When releasing a player with less than four seasons, those players are sent through a waiver wire that other teams can claim onto their 53-man roster. Once they clear waivers, the Bengals are able to re-sign those players.

However according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, cornerback Korey Lindsey was claimed by the Arizona Cardinals.

Lindsey was one player we had charted as a practice squad player, if he cleared waivers.

Other players we have projected signing to the practice squad includes cornerback Brandon Ghee, wide receiver Andrew Hawkins, linebacker DeQuin Evans, defensive tackle Jason Shirley, quarterback Dan LeFevour, running back Jay Finley, defensive back Rico Murray and offensive tackle Matthew O'Donnell.

Players claimed off waivers

have to stick the entire year with the new club on the active roster or the player can be claimed by the original team? Is this correct or am I thinking about baseball?

I don't think that's true--exactly

We released him and forfeited our rights. If Arizona releases him, we can claim him but we don’t have any special rights to him, nor do they have to keep on their regular 53. In order for him to be placed on their practice squad, they would have to release him, let him clear waivers and then re-sign him.

I haven't heard of this rule.

So you might be thinking of baseball. Of course, it could be an obscure NFL rule.
