Cincinnati Bengals Playoff Game Against The Houston Texans Announced
Even though Cincinnati lost 24-16 during their regular season finale against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bengals earned the sixth and final seed in the 2011 NFL playoffs thanks to losses by the New York Jets, the Denver Broncos and/or the Oakland Raiders. The Houston Texans, with no chance to improve their position no matter what happened on Sunday, finished as the AFC's third seed after securing the AFC South title following Houston's 20-19 win over the Bengals in week 14.
According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals will kickoff against the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 7 on NBC. Hopefully we'll get the Cincinnati veterans in Al Michaels (Marty Brennaman's predecessor) and Cris Collinsworth.
It will be the first game of the 2011 NFL playoffs, with two games on Saturday and two on Sunday. If the Bengals beat the Houston Texans, they'll face the top seed in the AFC in the New England Patriots.

Why bother? We still have Marvin and Mikey and no GM and no bubble and no run game. We should just forfeit and go home

Fricking Katy Perry just knocked on your door, took out them tittays and a bottle of wine. She got you drunk. She got you high. She rocked your jock and you have it on videotape... and some of you turkeys are complaining about it being skunk weed.
The whole season matters. They didn’t back in.
do you find this out of line?

well, bye

I hope you are saying goodbye to those who are bemoaning the Bengals on the boards in the day they reached the playoffs.

I bet you are an introverted, narrow-minded, friendless cretin who spends way too much time on message boards in an effort to satisfy all of your alone time.
Your post makes no sense. But it does expose your disposition.

read the sig
the subject line was paraphrasing some of the debbie downers in the 2nd half and “bengals are in” thread.
The Debbie Downer pic was of Debbie Downer.

I understood your parody perfectly.

should be a good game
Going to be a bit different then what y’all saw a few weeks ago. Andre Johnson will be on the field which opens up the play book for us big time. Will be a good revenge game for y’all if you win though! Good luck! But not to much luck… Haha

is that right?
it was a pretty high profile team… do they go in based on seeding for times or are the picked and placed by some person?

I would guess they are placed based on television advertising revenue
Bengals – Jets : Lucrative New York market
Bengals – Steelers : Not so lucrative.
My guess is they always put the big-market teams on Sunday if they can. Or teams with Tebows.

But the 05 Bengals were a hot commodity
wouldn’t the sunday PM game be the prime game?

typically
the scheduling is done by location and seeding.
Saturday is 6 at 3 games becauswe if 3 wins they go to 2 the following Sunday. Bonus rest Day
CIN-HOU
DET-NOR
ATL-NYG
PIT-DEN
They alternate conferences when possible.
Then SAT — SF and NWE; SUN BLT and GBY for Divisionals
Just saw it.

let me clarify
first game choice is usually the Warm up act — means CIN-HOU followed by a prime time DET-MOR game in the Superdome. Sunday the NFC game goes first at 1 pm with the ATL-NYG (up 21 at half) then the AFC PIT-DEN massacre at 4:30
the Divisionals usually mean the number ones play Saturday but NWE draws better in the 8 pm slot. I am surprised that they did not schedule Green Bay at 4:30 Saturday but it should not make much difference. Plus the Conferences switch which game is played first.
Championship games at 2 and 6:30 the following Sunday probably will be AFC first if at BLT or NWE or if NFC is at SFO
Hope that muddies the water.

OMG
How does everyone think we backed in to the playoffs. We lost to the ravens I hate them but they are the number 2 seed for a reason. The jets lost to a 5 wins fins with lame duck coach the raiders lost to a chargers team that knows their coach probably won’t be back and denver lost to kc. But bengals fans say we backed in. Well I say we are a couple bad breaks away from being a 1 seed.. The point being get off of we backed in.In a town that doesn’t hav e that much football success enjoy being here. If you can’t enjoy go somewhere that they enjoy bengal bashing. I suggest the dawg pound.

I think the comments stem from the fact that the Bengals didn't beat a single playoff team
Granted, they were close, but couldn’t pull out the victories. They are also entering the playoffs on a low note, which is never good.
I’m happy they’re in the playoffs, no matter how they got there. If I remember correctly, the Jets backed into the playoffs a couple of times over the past several years and made great runs. The Bengals have nothing to lose and I would love to see the team (including the coaches) play loose and fast. Don’t take anything off the table and just let it fly. Try an onside kick, mix in some crazy blitz packages, have AJ throw a pass, put Peko in at FB, etc…. Let the young guys have fun. That energy will go a long way to a playoff win.
When you think about it
No team was a playoff team until the teams actually made the playoffs. Therefore, our record against playoff teams this year is currently sitting at 0-0.
It’s a new season my friend.

hmm. I suppose you're right. 0-1 then?
But the 1 is pretty insignificant at this point.

Not Marvin Lewis' style
Do the Bengals have any trick plays?
by occams_tiger_teeth on Jan 2, 2012 12:18 AM EST up reply actions
I realize that, which is why I think it will work
I know it won’t happen but how jacked up would every fan be to see AJ pull up on a reverse and throw a pass to Simpson, who catches the ball and runs for a 60 yard TD. Or, deep motion by Baby Hawk, snapping the ball when he is in line behind Dalton and running a speed option to the wide side with a pitch to Baby Hawk and a 40 yard scamper down the sideline.
I know everyone would get pumped to see Peko check into the backfield and lead Ced through the hole for a TD, pancaking a Texans defender as he did Troy a while back.
The Bengals tried to run an option earlier this year.
It was a DISASTER. Like, the turning point in the game in the other team’s favor.
if a team is 14-1 and rest their starters to get in and lose
they are “backing in” it just means you lost your last game headed into the playoffs i guess.
But it also means you did good enough the other 15 games that it doesnt matter

Vs playoff teams
Steelers: 3-4
Patriots: 2-3
Broncos: 1-3
Falcons: 1-4
Giants: 1-3
Ravens: 6-0
49ers: 4-1
Lions: 1-5
Packers: 6-0
Saints: 5-1
Bengals: 0-7
Texans: 3-2
Saints, 49ers, Ravens, Packers: 21-2 vs. playoff teams
Other 8 playoff teams vs. playoff teams: 12-31 (and in games against teams other than the Bengals, they are 8-31)
The Bengals aren’t the only ones who sucked against playoff teams this year.
Change gone come mane! Trust me! Cause i Bleed tigerblood!--Jerome Simpson
Which is why those teams are the favorites
The only caveat to that is, the Giants look an awful lot like that Giants team of a few years ago who won the SB. Don’t be surprised if the Giants win the whole thing.
It tells you right there who you'd expect to win it all
In the obvious category: Ravens, Packers, Saints, 49ers. Would anybody be that shocked if one of these teams was Super Bowl champ? I wouldn’t.
Patriots or Steelers? Not as great this year, but they have a long history of success and the Pats have an awesome offense. So not so shocking.
The other six: Broncos, Falcons, Giants, Lions, Bengals, and Texans… would be stunned to see any of these hoist a Lombardi Trophy. (Texans + Schaub would be a different story, but there’s no way Texans + Yates is doing that)
