Jacksonville plans to hire former Falcons QB coach Bob Bratkowski as its offensive coordinator, reuniting him with HC Mike Mularkey.
Adam Schefter. On behalf of all Bengals fans, I'd like to say to Jaguars fans, we're sorry.

if you want to wish the jags fans luck
(or offer your sympathies)
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
read the comments in the jags thread, those are even better
improved the bengals during his tenure….
etc
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."

this is what happens when snidely whiplash buys the jags
he sets out to ruin them with a nefarious plan.

for anyone wondering who the hell snidley whiplash is
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
That's not Snidely Whiplash, that's Mike Brown Jr.
Didn’t you see the bit about how he thinks only season ticket holders qualify as fans?

Gawd help Jax…
Are you sure that isn't Marvin Lewis wearing a wig and fake mustache?
Seriously…
The amount of liquor I drank last night would've killed a small-to-medium sized Asian family.
Holy sh*t!
Lose the hair and mustache and it’s totally a Marvin doppelganger!

The funniest part about this
is to go and read the blogs on how this is a solid pickup…..surreal……Its like going to the Carson threads on the Raiders site…..poor guys….they just dont know….Jacksonville looks really bad now
"In a battle between patience and power, patience always wins"
i put as much as i'm willing on their site
anymore would be trolling. i do feel sorry for the jags. they are about to join the browns for me, as one of the few nfl franchises i actually pity.
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
Especially the ones pointing to his success here in 04-06
During that run we had one of the better o-lines in football along with Carson, Chad, T.J., and Rudi Johnson all in their primes. I love how they expect this to completely turn their offense around when just about the only thing their offense has going for it is MJD.

Ouch
I feel soooooo sorry for the Jags and there fans
To play devil's advocate
Though I think he’s a bust, Gabbert has a cannon arm, and Brat did well with Carson in the early years before the team fell apart. Maybe he can get something going on down there, though I doubt it.
2011 Year of the Red Rifle
Carson Palmer 2011 Comeback Player of the Year
I don't know about there line
But IMO in order to have any chance at all of success with Brats offense you better have a hall of fame offensive line, and that still may not be enough
i hope it works out for them
theres so much tape on bratts predictable offense from his time here. not sure bratt can fool anyone anymore, unless he designs something new.
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
to be fair
it’s not gonna be “his” offense, he’s just the damn QB coach…at least we knew he would go downhill
personally
I don’t want to see Marvin fired, I want him to be promoted to G.M. while handing the reigns over to Zimmer as head coach and hiring Jack Del Rio as Defensive Coordinator. Who Dey!!!

wow... those poor saps
I kinda like the jags.. sad they’re getting Brat. As someone there said, at least it isn’t Brian Schottenheimer. Not much better, but that’s proof right there that it could be worse.
one of their posts
“I’m excited
about Mel at the very least. I’ll have to learn more about Bratkowski. I admittedly don’t know anything about him… other than his last name seems kind of ridiculous…”
WOW…..F______G Poor GUY…lolllolololo

Yeah
I stopped reading their posts after I saw that.

yeah, that isn't good logic
when Mike Brown is involved, tenure does not equate to quality.
Go Reds!

Nice resume Stats don’t lie, that’s a serious resume people. He’s been around for a while, I think he’d know his stuff. I’m likin the Jags hirings.
..it keeps getting better
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
Its nice when Bengals fans cant sit back with a little wisdom earned in this league
whodey….times r achangin
"In a battle between patience and power, patience always wins"
Yes, times are a changin.
Other fans used to sit around and rag on who we signed/hired and felt sorry for us, it’s nice that it is the other way around for once.
A comment about Gabbert
Comparable numbers to Dalton…?
I expect him to surpass him.
………….I had to fight myself not to reply

oh no, **** that.

Poor Gabbert is completely screwed.
Imagine how much worse its going to get after all of those 7 step drops. Ha Ha.
shall we chip in
to help Gabbert’s funeral arrangements now to beat the rush?

Brat credited with developing Palmer?
Here’s a paragraph from the Florida Times-Union (Jax newspaper) in an article mainly about interim HC Mel Tucker returning as DC:
Bratkowski and Mularkey are good friends and the pair worked together in Atlanta last year. Bratkowski was the offensive coordinator in Cincinnati for 10 years before going to Atlanta for the 2011 season. Bratkowski was fired after 2010 and Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, whom Bratkowski is credited with developing, demanded a trade shortly thereafter.

They’re trying to convince (delude?) themselves that Brat was responsible for Carson’s early success and that Brat’s firing led to Carson’s trade demand/retirement threat/hissy fit.

yeah thats how it was
palmer demanded a trade because bratt got fired…
guessing the florida times-union fact checking department forget to use google and look through the top 20 results which would have revealed little facts like players refusing to come back if bratt were brought back for yet another season, etc.
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
Brat was seen as pretty innovative when he came on scene.
The problem for the Bengals was that after a few years, it became predictable and so bad that even the opposing defenses would say “it is predictable”. What should have been something great became something predictable and easily defended.
Brat was good stuff. But, like a slinky, the shelf life is extremely short when there is nothing extra to do with it.
Go Reds!
(and gooooo krogering)
Love the slinky metaphor
The offense was top tier for a few years. But then got to where the defense, and fans for that matter, knew what was coming – and yet somehow the offense was too complicated for the Bengals players who had trouble remembering snap counts, formations and routes.
by Offensive Brute on Jan 13, 2012 8:51 AM EST up reply actions
Well the problem for the jags is.
if any team wants to study brat just watch old bengals games and gabbart is no where near where palmer was

See what happens when you have a dominate 2 points performance in the playoffs
you get a raise and promotion.. wait 2 points thats on the D sorry…
I mean see what happens when you get completely blanked in the playoffs?
apparently football coaching politics
are made with the same lip placed abandon that governors most private sector companies white collar advancements.
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
For another reason
I am now looking forward to going to Jacksonville next season to watch that game.
