Coach Lewis respect

I think its about time that Marvin got his dues. Anyone that has been a true fan(over a decade of losing) can recognize where this organization is now in comparison to the entire nineties. What Marvin has done despite having MIke Brown in charge is border line a miracle. We all know the facts about our scouting, facilities, medical staff, and overall cheap ways of doing business and the fact of the matter is Marvin has this team on the cusp of what could be a potential dynasty. I really hope Marvin got some of the things he asked for because i truly believe that Bengals have the makings of something great plus you combine the fact that the Ravens/Steelers are getting a little old and slow. Either way I definitely think we get our first playoff win in 2 decades and thats a good first step....

It's funny...

…and kind of sad, that Marvin got so much hate from Bengals “fans”, until his contract was up, and then it was like, “We’ll never forgive Mike Brown if he lets Marvin go!” And then they went quickly back to hating him for the rest of the season.

Marvin isn’t the greatest coach in history, but he is above average. And if he has had even a bit of a hand in the positive changes Mikey has been making lately he deserves to stay for that alone.

PS, Apparently Mikey has been moonlighting as a Safety in Kansas City...

… and he got a tan.

Didn’t realize that until I saw the “Read More” below your post.

Everything had to fall into place also though!

I agree this is Marvin’s best job as coach, and he is the best man for the job going forward

The whole Carson Palmer thing, kinda fell into their lap
Extremely underrated is the job Jay Gruden has done, everyone will be a beleiver in that guy someday soon

I like Jay. He is a beath of fresh air, but his play calling is becoming a bit predictable lately

He needs to mix things up just a bit. The WCO is a game of short passes and screens combined with a runing game. We get burned on screens and short crossing TE routes but we don’t do enough of either for my taste. But, I think he is just scratching the surface and with Shipley and a revamped RB set we can look forward to some good things after OTAs and a TC to get the system fully installed.

Agree John..

I am seeing the first play i to Benson much more than I would like. When he did throw on first down, he appeared to be more successful!
Where is the Green end-around?
I would also like to see Dalton pull it down more and run for positive yards. That will keep the LB’s home and allow the intermediate passes to be open.

and Mike Brown's trust.

it took a long time to get Mike Brown to trust Marvin enough to let him make some key decisions without getting in his way.

Just think if Brown was the Hands off GM/OWNER instead of pretending to know about creating a great football team.

Just think of Brown actually hired a great GM to work hand in hand with Marvin and get him the tools he’s been asking for since he arrived.

Marvin gives us our best shot at being a successful team. In hus early years he would say " I don’t shop for the grocery, I just try to make the meal good". He hasn’t said that in awhile because I think he is just starting to get his way. Brown finall trust someone that’s not a family member. So lets hop Marvin stay awhile and keeps getting his way because things are looking better.

I'll be honest

I didn’t start following the Bengals till Marvin got here and drafted Palmer. I was 22 like every other kid follow winning thems =)! My point being Marvin has done alot to right the ship. 8-8 hi first 2 seasons and playoffs in 05. If Carson would not have went down it would have been our year. He went down and it had to be to me the worst off season ever. Odell gets suspended Slim get’s suspended and Pollack goes down in the second game of the season. That’s the first 3 picks and Bengals future gone… It was a set back that was hears to recover from. Yet they managed to finish 8-8 twice yet again… fell off in 08 cus Carson went down once again and the team couldn’t function cus by that time it was Carsons team. Rudi was gone and the running game was on Chirs Perry??? Not a solution and then 4-12 the first losing season in Marvin Lewis’s Tenture happens…. 09 comes and knows his QB is not what he use to be, Benson provides them with a lift at the end of 08 and wants the O to start become more run oriented… It works. The lost of TJ and Slim hurts and come playoff time Chad is the only option at WR and is not enough. 10 comes and We need a WR so they draft Shipley and go after the top WR in Free Agency that spends the season on IR. So they get TO the only option at WR towards training camp and the Tocho show fails. They lose focus of what got them to the playoffs the year before and I’l put it this way. Frist play of the year was a pass mid left to TO and it’s incomplete… The begining of the end…We all know what happen this year in 2011 and I won’t get into it. But it has been the best overall season thus far and it is because of Marvin. In Marvin I trust… It will only get better!

If the Vikings can make Rick Spielman GM...

Mike Brown should elevate Marvin!

You're either insane, stupid, or

a Browns, Squealers, or Ravens fan to think for one minute Marvin Lewis is above average…

Oh I’m sorry you must have meant an above average human being…cause he’s an awful head football coach

My apologies

Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion

doesn’t make them insane, stupid, or a fan of another team. Where was this team before Marvin? Marvin FINALLY got Mike Brown to relinquish some control, and you CAN this team is headed in good direction. Marvin isn’t the problem though.

Great post!

I agree Marvin deserves a lot of credit and by wins he is the greats bengals coach ever. Not too mention he has been here for 9 years… how many head coaches last more than 2 years?

I think Marvin understand how this game needs to be played and how to prepare for it. A few unfortunate injuries/suspensions really changed the out come of a few seasons. But like you said, we could be on the path of dynasty with these next couple of drafts if we continue to pick up young, solid players.
