Around SBN: Celtics Seething Over Embarrassing Loss

Open Thread: NFC Championship

It's one of the league's best defenses against a team that has the potential to beat anybody in the NFL at any time. The 49ers have been consistently good with their hard-hitting defense from the beginning to the end of the season while the Giants were somewhat inconsistent through the regular season. That ended in the playoffs as the Giants knocked off the Falcons and then beat the Packers, the favorites to win the Super Bowl.

Both teams are on a roll and this game could go either way. So who's it going to be? Will it be the 49ers, who beat the Bengals in the Super Bowl twice, or the Giants from the Big Apple? Should be a great game.

The winner of this game will face the New England Patriots. Our own Mojokong believes the Giants win this one by a score of 24-13. What do you think?

The best news of the day so far?

Brady won’t be playing in the Pro Bowl now. And I think we all know who the first alternate is. :)

It's been done many times before in multiple places

as for a QB? Marino started the pro bowl as a rookie. I know there’s a few others, Big Ben for instance. Great as it is, it’s not a real rarity.

If you're talking about QBs, it's fairly rare.

But Suh was in it just last year.

Speaking of Hochuli's speech

I read an article that the NFL is planning to have some of the refs go full time starting next year. I did not know that NFL refs were not full time, and that is retarded. This is a billion dollar league. Explains a lot of the bogus calls.

by emeybee on Jan 22, 2012 7:08 PM EST reply actions

There will still be missed calls

But you have do do whatever you can to decrease them. If you want refs to act like professionals you have to treat them like professionals.

manning gets 1 minute 20

I’d take that bet.

Definitely.

He’s the type of guy that scores here more often than not.

I like kicking on 3rd down here. Now if there’s a bad snap, they can sit on the ball and try again.

I was in Thailand during the 2008 Super Bowl

I just assumed the Pats won for like a week until someone told me they’d lost.

It’s nice of them to re-play it for me. Hopefully with the same result.

Well, we have the exact opposite of a Harbaugh Bowl now.

One less stupid story to hear about.

Are there people on both teams with long hair? Because that’s always an ESPN favorite.
